AutoExe Intake Suction Kit

I don't care to purchase an after market intake as I have heard and think for this vehicle it is a waste. But I (for some reason) want the accordion tube gone to clean up the engine bay and possibly add performance. I fond the AutoExe Suction Kit, and am curious about it.

The little info I do find is very vague. Does this attach to the stock box? Is it for turbo applications, or attach to their intake system? If it attaches to the oem box, how do you change the filter (remove the kit?)??

I doubt it is even worth it, even if I could find one. But it would look nice. :hahano:

Does any other company make something similar?

You can be assured that any AutoExe piece will be topnotch in quality and fit. It does swap directly for the accordion pipe. From what the diagrams seem to suggest is that it will improve airflow, as for horsepower you sound like you know the deal.

Pics of the 8(they do have their carbon box but it will fit with the oe box. I would also suggest their air filter as well if your going to get this, just for improved air flow.

I have been waiting for this - who has it for sale?

s13hybrid 02-13-2011 06:54 PM

Sounds cool, and I want it. I have the same question as nemesis. Where can I get one and how much is it. It is exactly what I have been looking for.

Get one from autoexe. I ordered that stuff along with a cf shifter knob, just waiting for spring to install it. Call them, they are very nice and their customer service is awesome. They always put something extra in my box too. I've gotten a free badge, chrome keychain, stickers and a strp thing. I didn't get the CF box cause it's mucho donero. Some day though.

Talk to Paul at Mazmart, he has an excellent relationship with AutoExe. Recently he has not been shipping larger items such as bumpers and hoods for the enormous cost in shipping due to Yen Dollar exchange rates, but smaller items like this he is willing to especially if there are several that are interested. Corksport is also an importer of AutoExe parts.

Do you guys know a rough estimate on how much the coupler and the filter cost?

lol. it's expensive.
700 to 800 for that stuff.

EricMeyer 02-13-2011 07:56 PM

Our testing has shown that the MazdaSpeed / AEM intake produces the most torque UNDER THE POWER CURVE. Other intakes may produce greater peak hp figures but the overall torque is best with this intake. As for filteration media, let me tell you a story.

A few years ago when we were running Grand-Am with two cars we began blowing motors. This turned out to be a non-intake and filter issue but let me tell you something interesting. It went like this. I called David Haskill at SpeedSource. David is the team engineer. Great guy and very busy running a multicar program and always appears to be building other 3 rotor cars for new customers in Grand-Am. I shared with him our engine woes. You know the very first thing he asked me? "What air filter are you running?". No kidding. Any idea what the SpeedSource 3 rotor 450 hp cars run for an air filter? STOCK PAPER MAZDA RX-8 FILTER. Better filtration. I have found this to be true as well but that's another story.

I've always trusted stock filters. One reason for not going the MS/AEM way.
Eric, great input.

I just bought and AEM and I will be running a WIX Chevy OEM filter on it. I almost pulled the trigger on the Autoexe stuff a while back when paul posted up but damn it's expensive.

having anything auto exe in the states is pretty baller status, but you pay for OEM fitment. I'll tell a funny story about this:

Years ago when I first got the car the only thing I disliked about the interior was the Ebrake. Something about the lines and feel always made me wish for something else. So one day I found the Auto exe ebrake handle. I ordered it from japanparts after emailing them to make sure it would fit a LHD car. The price was a couple hundred but I thought that wasn't too bad for a whole ebrake set up.

When the box arrived it was very light and got me wondering if they shipped me the wrong item. Nope, the couple of hundred bucks was just the cover, not the whole handle. It looks great but wowza was it a lot of money to spend for a cover.

Paying that much for that stuff is as smart as asking my gf if in the future she can choose to get a cesarean so that she doesn't cause carnage to her lower body when she fires out a baby.

I was looking at getting the same a while back. I didn't know it was a cover! I take it that pic shows the handle at the down position (hence the angle) ? I too am not a big fan of the ebrake handle :(

thanks for the pics ... that really looks nice, wish I had the money to drop on it though and not feel guilty lol

laythor 02-13-2011 10:07 PM

if i had stopped the mods at the parking brake i probably would have saved myself... god, i don't even want to start adding up all the mod costs in my head.

I have a folder in my file cabinet with every receipt for the car, i will NEVER look through that folder, ever.

Except where I live, 30 minutes from the Pacific Ocean in Aberdeen, WA. I could not keep the darn thing from sucking up rain... Had to go back to my REVi.

:dunno:

I only want the coupler

Wind Dance 02-14-2011 03:34 PM

Yep, Odula has a metal version
