ARC intake

cel light on and stalling at low rpm...:banghead:

04RX8man 01-25-2009 05:00 PM

ok we need some more info? What year? MT? AT? mileage? Sounds like it may b a vacuum leak! are you sure all ur hose are hooked up to the intake and around the intake manifold and throttle plate?

schnipster 01-25-2009 06:40 PM

08 rx8
mt
10000k
not sure why the light comes on.....everything seems to be right, my buddy told me its because the intake is japanese and it is different us models

05rex8 01-25-2009 06:42 PM

get the code read somewhere....that's the easiest way to figure out what the problem is

alz0rz 01-25-2009 06:45 PM

i assume you just installed it?

it is probably the MAF adjusting for the new air flow.. from a crappy aftermarket intake no less.

give it a few drive cycles.

04RX8man 01-25-2009 06:48 PM

yeah the MAF may be trying to "learn" the system if u just installed it being Japanese or American will make no differnece the PCM does not know it just now how much air it coming in and fuel being injected etc etc
!

isn't the ARC one of the intakes that uses weird MAF techniques to achieve a "gain"?

schnipster 01-25-2009 07:14 PM

so what do we suggest?

reset ECU, clean filter and MAF and hope your car likes it better. besides that, short of you installing it incorrectly or having a leak somewhere, there's not much we can say...

chancejat 01-25-2009 08:26 PM

the arc intake does not incorporate any maf screens and the position of the maf is improper....its a bad intake for the rx8 and thats why you dont see them on anybody else rx8....seriously take it off and deal with your losses theres nothing you can do....

Renesis07 01-25-2009 08:53 PM

Vac leak more than likely.

Go over the intake and make sure everything is plugged in, then clean the MAF sensor. Then for shits and giggles you might want to push down on the ignition wires to make sure they are in place.

After that is the problems still continue, I would take it to the dealer.

thats why I said.. crappy aftermarket intake.

i wouldn't be surprised if you LOST power with this

05rex8 01-26-2009 12:12 AM

make sure your vfad nipple is capped off as well, if you removed the vfad all together. That would cause it to run like crap too.

Race Roots 01-26-2009 01:15 AM

Damn and to think Works Concepts is selling this intake right now dirt cheap.

If it caused this kind of issue I wouldn't be selling something like that.

Wind Dance 01-26-2009 01:37 AM

It's been known fluid, don't worry we got your back. LOL

bose 01-26-2009 01:56 PM

I want to see pics of this mounted up. ARC quality is supposed to be amazing.

^+1

when i installed my intake i didn't reset the ecu and it had similar symptoms - best bet is to go over everything and make sure you cap the nipple thingy on the vfad (granted you still have it)

ARC is one of the top leading manufacture of Cooling system in Japan. They do road tests on tracks around Japan before they sell their cooling products.

Just not quite sure about their Intake side of things.

krijpipudht 01-27-2009 12:23 AM

ARC has many well-known good products for Evo, Impreza-Saab, and Honda.

But I doubt that the company know anything about rotary.

bose 01-27-2009 10:22 AM

Take the screens from your stock and put them in the ARC and see if that helps.
