Air intake

Guys wondering if you could gimme some advice - What are the exact benefits of fitting a new air intake over stock and which is recommended for 5spd RX8 and respectivley 6pd (if it even makes a difference between the models!)

Thankyou

:)

racing beat. your car will breathe better, not to mention it will look much nicer than the stock intake.

yeah and lots o information on the RB REVi intake can be found in the aftermarket performance section of this site.

The REVi will definately increase your gas mileage as well...even if you can't keep your foot out of it :D

Is there any real evidence that the RB intake will increase fuel mileage? I am all about increasing my mileage, so if it really works, I might be interested.

All I can tell you is that no matter how I drive my car, foot to the floor or cruising in 6th at 35, I have experienced better mpg with the REVi the moment I installed it.

Before the REVi I never saw better than 17.5 mpg/city. I now get 19+ mpg consistently. If I drive hard around town I'm back in the 17's...driving hard used to get me in the 15's.

It's working for me ;)

Might have a good article in the next RX Tuner magazine (it sounds like) on at least the hp benefits of the RB intake. As for gas mileage increase that would probably have to be from personal experience from the board members.

If you guys had a choice between RB and KN, which will it be

RB -hands down-. Check the other threads on this subject. I believe you'll find that's the consensus.

No doubt the Racing Beat - I just installed mine last night. I have installed 4 others "air boxes" in various cars and this is by far the nicest engineered piece that I have ever seen. Really just as goot (if not better) then OEM. I sure "think" I noticed the extra power (trying to turn off the butt dyno), but my brain says no way (3.5 HP throughout the band and 7 HP peak). It DEFINITELY smoothed out my idle - the stick actually "shakes" less after this was installed - amazing. Great sound - just about right: not sucking loud like most of the aftermarket intakes

PCM compenstates for RB Intake?

Hey guys, I read that one of the guys was reporting that after he had the RB Intake installed for awhile, he noticed that the idle was going back to what it was before the intake. He seemd to indicate that the PCM might be adjusting itself to the new intake and as result be going back to a more stock like performance? Anybody with the RB Intake in for awhile now confirm this?

i have the rb intake for about 3 weeks now and havent noticed it going back to stock like performance... it still sounds more aggressive and feels more aggressive and i dont think its possible to go "back" to stock because the car would always be getting more air
