Air Duct in Bumper for Intake

I really love the look of the custom air ducts worked into the bumper in front of the air intake http://i466.photobucket.com/albums/r...gan3/th_rx.jpg and was looking to do so and pair it with a short ram intake, feeding it cold air rather than hot engine bay air.

The only one I have found is one for a 350z, does anyone know if there is one for the rx8, or if the one I found can be molded to the rx8?

Also, I was curious about avoiding rain soaking the filter and being pulled into the engine...

Thanks!

Given a desired bumper installation I would think the Racing Beat Ram duct to be best. No need to cut up your bumper and even then a very indirect airflow with the 350z-type.

The RB puts the cool air right where you want it: http://racingbeat.com/FRmazda4.htm

im familiar with the rb duct, i just like the aesthetics of the bumber duct. Im not looking to do anything right away, i know enough about the rx8 to know that im not gonna be getting much extra out of an intake, so aesthetics is next on the priorities list after performance. That, and I was just curious about this type of set up bc not many people have it.

I have the perfect intake for that very idea for sale right now. Go take a look in the for sale section or PM me.

Back to your subject though. I tossed and turned with the idea forever, I like the look but didn't know if I changed my intake setup if it would still look cool. Well, I never went through with it but I still might even though I have the aem being shipped right now I still think it looks sweet. All the fresh air in that area the better, so looks and performance (somewhat).
BTW I think the aftermarket duct looks better than the molded one that comes with some aftermarket MS style front bumpers.

OR

u can modify a modest one with a marker, heat gun, razor, and some thin plates (optional).

if u have the bumper off and look at the vfad long enough.... u'll know where to put ur cuts, if u don't want a big hole hacked into ur bumper, but rather concealed behind some well placed openings behind the grill.

RB products are great, don't get me wrong. the reason i sold the RB duct is based on how much rocks and dusty it makes my filter.. not to mention what big an item it is sitting in front of the bumper, blocking air flow to radiator.

sorry no DIY made... it is pretty self explanatory if u can just carefully observe since u'll be removing ur bumper anyways. any DIYer can do this with just a heat gun and a razor...

i have a vented hood and the filter sits right under 3 huge vents. no problems what so ever. had a hard start once when i was washing the car and just let the hose sit there for a long time but took out the maf, sprayed it with cleaner, took off the filter and shook the extra water out and started like brand new. took about 2 minutes. rain wont ever be a problem.
