Agency Power Pulleys?

Found these on mazdaparts.com and was wondering if anyone had experience with them?

160 bucks is pretty cheap for a claimed 9hp. The only current modification that I have to my 8 is a catback Racing Beat exhaust.

Also, if anyone has experience what potential shortfalls do these have on the car?

A/C won't be as strong. I have one used I'll sell to you though, a lot cheaper than that. I suggest you buy a used pulley, they don't break over time...

UniBroW 11-13-2007 08:41 AM

is there a huge difference with the ac? I tend not to fair well in the hot weather.

Keef 11-13-2007 11:45 AM

not very much, I counter attacked the lack of A/C by buying Racing Beat's ECU modification. It keeps both fans on, so your A/C will always run a couple of degree's cooler. In all reality, the only time you'll notice a weak A/C is when you are idling.

If you search a bit there are two lengthy threads about this part & it *ups & downs*. Also, you wont see the acclaimed 9hp. Maybe 2-3 at the most. I also run this pulley along with other AP products & mods & have no problems.

I've had my AP pulley for a couple years now and never had problems with the A/C.
I live in the North-East area of the country so maybe that plays a factor. I'm sure there is a difference while running when its 100+ degrees outside, but where I live it gets in the 90s (but not for long) and I still feel comfortably cool.

thx for the info.

True that.. Mine cost me $0.. Hoorah!:)

chetrickerman 11-13-2007 08:22 PM

ha, howd you do that?

chickenwafer 11-13-2007 08:58 PM

You can get the AP pulley for cheaper elsewhere, got mine for $126 brand new

It's not "Pulleys" tho, it's Pulley, since it's only one pulley.

The AP pulley is a lot lighter than the stock crank pulley, and it's one piece. I haven't had any problems with mine yet, I did get a CEL (Misfire) the first time I whomped on the car with pulley on and it felt pretty good, but now I'm used to it.

I also live in Phoenix, and I have had the pulley on during the summer when its been over 120 outside, and the A/C is still cold. My A/C has always sucked tho, so I just check the system pressure every now and then and charge the system nearly the point of overcharging it and it blows ice cold, even with the pulley. I also haven't had any issues with less voltage recharging my battery. For under $130, it's a great deal.

chetrickerman 11-13-2007 09:07 PM

misfire? how did you manage that?

rowteree 11-13-2007 09:13 PM

i have an ap pulley and i have no problems with my ac. Matter of fact i can't say that it adds any horsepower at all, but it sure does weigh alot less than the stock pulley thats for sure

where did you get that pulley? that looks cool.

Keef 11-14-2007 08:37 AM

I actually just bought the unidentified blue pulleys when you search on ebay

Stock alt. and water pump pulley weight is a combined 1.3-1.4 pounds, the blue after market thing is .7 pounds just the pulleys... Waiting on the combined weight though with the bolts...
