Agency Power Exhaust Review

just installed the agency power exhaust today (catback + race pipe) switching from just a catback B&B exhaust.

sound: i was surprised at how loud it was, and was almost scared revving past 4k rpms the whole drive home. it's got very loud deep tones (0 to 4k rpm) then seems to quiet down between 4 to 6k rpms then is loud again from 6k to redline. i was a little worried before i installed it because i had heard that the b&b sounded much better, but the AP sounded good to me, not ricey at all and very nice deep tones.

power: i definitely had a very noticeable an increase in power, both in off the line acceleration and from a rolling start. this seemed to give me more power than all my other mods. i'll wait until i dyno soon to see the actual HP/TQ increase.

construction: the welds all looked well done, however the flanges were very thin and cheap. the piping also was a lot thinner than my b&b exhaust, which made it more lightweight, but was more susceptible to dents. i had a dent in both the midpipe as well as on the overlapping pipe that connects the muffler to the middle pipe (which needed to be buffed out in order to fit properly)

fitment: everything fit relatively well, except for the passenger side exhaust tip. it sticks in about a quarter inch further than the drivers side and also touches the plastic shroud on the bottom, which would melt the shroud. i put a metal clamp around the rear rubber hanger part and tightened it in order to lift the tip up off the shroud. the problem was that the metal hangers had been welded too high up and caused the exhaust to hang low. the midpipe also touches the heat shielding as well but i did not see that as a problem. i drove it for about an hour and a half after the install and had no melting problems and no rattling either, so i was happy.

looks: the tips on the AP look much better than the B&B IMO. i like the burnt titanium tips with the engraved logo, however looking inside the tips, you can see some of the imperfections.

if anyone is considering getting this exhaust: be prepared to have a loud car. i you are worried about cops than this is not for you. however if you're looking for performance, a racepipe is definitely worth the money. if quality is a concern for you, i might tend to look for alternatives as well. the B&B i had was designed extremely well and fitment was perfect. the AP took a little bit of work to fit right.

i paid $750 for the headerback Agency Power exhaust (fluidmotorsports)
and $850 for the B&B catback (vividracing). the B&B is worth the money for quality.

i was gonna get this exhaust and sell my greddy sp2..if the fitment sucks, then i would rather keep my sp2

No fitment issues with my AP.
Off the top of my head, I can't think of anyone having a fitment problem with the AP (from what I've read on this forum).

^+1 OBX on the other hand well lets no go there but I got lucky. No issues with mine :)

nuke0907 01-07-2009 02:08 PM

my AP fit like crap and i've seen a few people's that had the same fitment issues. mainly with the shrouds. it didn't fit well with my aftermarket bumper either, in fact it was worse.

04RX8man 01-07-2009 04:36 PM

OBX FTW haha.....no problems here but mine seem quiet as hell not too much more noise than stock! Just a little deeper!

ducttape4054 01-10-2009 12:11 AM

i got the AP. installed myself. my shrouds melted a little until the tips n pipes settled. now they dont melt. it is the loudest exhaust i have herd on a 8. But i frikn love it. just have to drive sivilized. when i open it up i backfire really really loud. n o, flames dump out with no problem.

DOMINION 01-10-2009 01:47 AM

I have the OBX cat back and RB race pipe its quite loud in the winter but just deeper than stock in the summer. Its kinda odd.
My friend has the TurboXS exhaust and its loud all year round lol
I'm looking for a 3" exhaust & race pipe set up thats not to loud but well see.

ha ha, i havent seen the flames on my car yet, but the other day i was merging onto the freeway and i took my car to redline before shifting and got a lot of backfire, then when i got into the lane some teens in a gold camry next to me had their faces pressed against the window staring at my car. i couldnt stop smiling the whole drive. i cant wait to see the flames from outside, must look really cool

volcomx31 01-10-2009 03:43 AM

^did you get the original AP catless pipe? or the dual resonated one?

AJ's Shinka 01-10-2009 03:56 AM

OP=Is this the AP Catback with the dual resonated midpipe from Fluidmotorsports or just a straight midpipe?
THIS SETUP?

I was going to buy this but I was hoping the Dual res pipe would make it quiet. Now worried about fitment as well and melting shrouds . :(

DOMINION 01-10-2009 05:12 AM

Dude that one chick in UT has it. Maybe we can hear what it sounds like :) I dont know if she got it installed yet.

the AP exhaust doesn't come with a straight pipe. it either has 1 or 2 resonators. the straight pipe in the pic is the intermediate pipe.

i have the dual resonated.
AJ i think i told you 1 in the pm, i didnt remember offhand so i just referred to the product pic that only has one.

it took a few days, but i don't think it's as loud anymore. but a very noticeable increase in sound from a cat + catback

05rex8 01-11-2009 04:12 PM

the dual resonators on the AP midpipe doesn't do jack...so don't buy this exhaust thinking it will be quiet.
no fitment issues with mine except the tips melted the shrouds....that's what happens when you have a HUGE tip that gets extremely hot. oh well.

DOMINION 01-11-2009 04:22 PM

^What he said and the same goes for the TurboXS Exhaust.

that's odd..i had the greddy sp2 with the RP catless pipe and car was fine..aren't the sp2 tips the biggest around?

05rex8 01-11-2009 09:20 PM

ap's are 4 inches....don't know about the SP2's

volcomx31 01-11-2009 09:27 PM

well..my head fits in the tip..haha jk

Razz1 01-12-2009 12:27 PM

Which dual resonated MP? The one that Fluid just put up for sale a few days ago or the Mazsport DR MP?

If you have an AP midpipe then you do not have a dual resonated midpipe.
