aftermarket rotors/modified rotors
 

Is there any plans, or is even possible to manufacture after market rotors...like it is pistons. Although the compression on the renesis allows for boost i would still rather be on the safe side and run a lower compression. If not is there a way to "cut " out the dish in the regular rotor and "weld" in new dishes?????????????

There were shops in the past that did lower the compression ratio by dishing them out. Hayes Rotary used to make compression ratios as low as 7.5:1. I'm not sure of the casting thickness of the new rotors though. The older ones were much heavier whcih implies more material is available for machine away. It can be done though. I've never seen anyone else manufacture new rotors.

I think there's a rotary shop up in Alberta near CanZoomer that's doing just this. Remachining the rotors to lower the compression ratios (to make it more suitable for FI) and installing ceraminc apex seals.

Racing Beat will do this mod for you but the problem would be that Mazda have taken more metal out of the rotor guts now to save weight and it would end up very thin. We are looking into putting rx8 rotor gears into Ser4 turbo rotors so you still have the nice new high reving gears but the 8:4 comp rotors

That won't work. The S4 rotors do not have the blow by seal that the Renesis rotors have. Changing the rotor gears won't affect this. BTW: Their compression ratio is 8.5:1.

The blow-by seal is only to stop the intake and the exhaust from overlaping when the rotor is around TDC, but its something that could be machined into the rotor and besides i guess i was mainly thinking if these rotor were in older motors but with the RX8 shaft gears and stat gears, sorry for the confustion

( 173rd Airborne Brigade out of Italy) anyways..Is it highly unlikely that anyone will produce new rotor's- like pistons with variable ratios??.......Will There ever be a safe (renesis rotors are thin enough) way to lower the compression... I dont want to push alot of boost and I'm not looking for sky high hp #'s just a real performing street car... thinking about putting one of those disco-potato turbos on
