after market steering wheel hub?

I have looked up momo or sparco and I haven't seen them release a hub that can use on the RX8 yet? Anyone know anyhting about it?? personally, I don't like the two tone leather in my face, the seats are fine...but I rather have a smaller and one color steering wheel. Plus I don't mind giving up all the control on the OEM steering wheel as well

I personally don't think it is worth trading off not having an airbag.

In this case, I agree. On an older Miata for example, I'd have no problem swapping out the steering wheel - it has the original strength overpowered airbags (ie more harmful rather than more safe), and the seatbelts are easily modified to the non-airbag configuration. It was sold in many markets with no airbag like that. The RX-8, however, has smart dual-stage airbags (less likely to cause injuries), and the seatbelts with pretensioners and crush reels are designed to work in conjunction with the airbags. Disabling the airbags means that the seatbelts will NOT be providing adequate protection - which means you also need to install a roll cage for a harness bar, for the racing harness that you'll need to install.

Gordon
