AFR for N/A?
Can someone tell me what the AFR should be for a N/A 8? Thanks in advance!!

What do you mean, exactly? The factory reality or what would be optimal?
The former is anywhere from 15:1 down to 11:1 under load. The latter would be 14.7:1 at cruise and 13.5:1 under load. Oops! Sorry! I didn't mean to answer that! I meant to post this (gotta be consistent):http://www.mazdamaniac.com/images/mi...rchdumbass.jpg |

Hey now, I'm not a newb and I did search. But I got a gazillion threads with millions of pages and the titles had no indication that they contained the information I need. Now that I made this thread, someone else can come along and search "NA" and "AFR" and find exactly what they need.
Thank you very much. |

I'm believe the best tuned ratio for an n/a car to produce the most hp safeley is between 13.2-13.4. I'm not an expert thats just my understanding
|
dazy are you getting your car tuned? what engine management system are you using?
|
ahh, I was only :stickpoke 'ing ya'
:sadwavey: |
sometimes my car feels like the AFR is 1:1, the tack goes up as fast at the gas drops....lol
That said, I hooked the car up to a wide band (with the old motor) and noticed about 13.2-13.5 at cruise (steady light throtle, 72mph on the hwy, lvl ground, 85* amb temp) and anywhere from 10.8-12.8 durring WOT on the same road (depending on gears, the higher gears gave a richer AFR hope that helps. |
Mine typically sits at 14.4:1 at 4000 RPM cruise for 7 seconds after which it abruptly switches to 13:1, gradually slipping down to 12.7:1. Letting off the throttle for even a split second puts the mix back to 14.5:1 or so.
That is the CAT protection scheme. Obviously, my WOT numbers are useless to this discussion. |
KYliquid- thats weird
Jeff- why is yours slipping to even 12:1 at cruising? because of the TC? i havent seen mine do that while cruising. hmm maybe i should log a couple runs and take a closer look |
If you hold the load even, that is the CAT salvation strategy on the M-flash.
I don't know if they changed it after that and I don't intend to find out. |
