AEM Intake!!!!

I just installed my AEM intake and its AMAZING.
so far a few things i notice are....

car idles at 800-1000rpm
crusing at 70mph is it 3500rpm instead of 4000rpm
sounds softer unless you really pound on it!

keep in mind these results are with my greddy catback and SR motorsports highflow cat. im looking forward to seeing if this improves my gas mileage....

all in all, i recommend AEM intake!

right on ! iv got the AEM also I love it.

umm your speed to rpm changed?

Tigster 12-16-2005 09:18 PM

I have to raise the :icon_bs: on the rpm's dropping from 4000 to 3500 by installing an intake. The intake lets additional air in the motor and in NO way NO how affects the gear ratio.

:bsflag:

I am glad you like it though. :yesnod:

I was wondering the same thing: a difference of 500rpms after installing an intake? You sure Lil BenNy? Thanks for the feedback on the AEM though.

Yea, I never heard of rpm change like this.

its a magical intake

That idle is stock, it raises as load increases to compensate, so 800-1000 is normal as far as I've always dealt with from when I drove off the lot, to today.

Cruising at 70mph in 6th gear has always been 3500rpm for me also, someone actually asked me to test this that was going to be putting in a 4.5xx diff into his rx7 and was curious about rpm.

I think you're just expecting more changes than really will happen and overexaggerating or something :p:

If you were going 70mph at 4k rpm, then something was wrong with your car. I'll also have to call BS on this claim of dropping down to 3.5k rpm. A new intake has nothing to do with your gear ratios.

r0tor 12-17-2005 01:25 PM

oh my....

LiL BenNy 12-17-2005 09:48 PM

to be honest i personaly am not a car genius. i noticed when i usually cruise at "71mph" it was at 4000rpm and last night i was going "68mph" both in 6th gear idk if that 3mph differences makes the 500rpm difference.. i really dont know, but thats what i observed so far... i also noticed.. you lose alot of wieght taking the stock air box out.. that crap really weights alot compared to the AEM....

LiL BenNy 12-17-2005 09:50 PM

also... for rpms changing by gears.. havent a lot of people claimed that when idling with other intakes it has lowered their idle rpms... so why isnt it possible for it to lower while driving... just curious...

lurch519 12-17-2005 09:55 PM

in 6th gear on the mt cars, speed to rpm ratio is approx 20 mph to 1000 rpm. so 3500 rpm is 70 mph, 3000 is 60, etc. btw, i love the aem too.
