AEM has 2 8's

I put a call into a friend of mine that owns a tuner shop in Florida and was talking to him about strictly adding the GReddy EManage and tuning the car. I had seen a post of someone doing this and gaining 40 hp. I thought for the $$ the dollar per hp is way less than say a turbo kit. After talking to him he said wait that AEM has 2 8's and is working on a piggyback that will be better suited for the 8. I thought I would just pass this along, if it is pretty common knowledge I can delete the post.

Also I know AEM takes their time for product release like thier cold air intake but if it is developed properly it is worth the wait. Maybe a vendor can chime in on this and enlighten us if they know anymore.

sounds good to me

Guess we'll just have to wait and see. AEM is a good company with proven performance parts, lets just see what they can do with the 8

I think you are dreaming if you think you will gain 40 from just an emanage. I gained 20 with an tuned emanange (CZ), midpipe, high flow cat, Borla exhaust and Green filter. That got me to 200 whp (back to advertised stock numbers) and the CZ unit has ignition control added to the emanage.

Let me say that I won't dyno tune my GReddy turbo for another week or so -- but the power difference from the above set-up is very very significant :D

I hope the AEM kit is a great one -- but you can only go so lean.

p.s. -- wasn't AEM working on an intake that never materialized.

From what I have read AEM is still releasing the cold air intake but they are being cautious like racing beat is and don't want to make a mistake like the k&n folks did. Also Other members have 30hp by adding the emanage. Check the link below.

Emanage

That hp gain is not indicative of every car :

1) The person doing the tuning is Mazda Maniac, Jeff Abrams, who has
probably fiddled with the EManage longer than anybody else on this board.
He knows what he is doing.

2) Those measurements are from a GTech Pro. That is not a dyno, it is a
device that measures hp based on approximate times/distance. If you
look at the baseline it is low (150 whp). Most RX8's dyno in the low
170-180 whp. Factory cars seem to be all over the place. From
running rich/less hp to leaner/more hp. Gains from the tuned
Canzoomer unit have been from 12 whp to 24 whp, but a lot of it is
from how your car starts. It seems that the maximum whp you can
tune to is around high 190's, so if you start at 180 whp, you will
probably about a 15-20 whp gain with a lot of tuning. It's not like if
you start at 180 whp you will get to 220 whp with tuning an
EManage. If you are expecting 30-40 hp you should lower your
expectations. Assume 15 whp, & if you get more or less that is
expected.
