My rx-8 goes 0-72 in 3.9 seconds. Of course that is my r.c. car though. Does that count?

tajabaho1 10-11-2007 12:11 PM

He's just a retarded ricer, which is why I'm killing his thread

wow! 7.5?!?!? that sucks!!!

Raptor2k 10-11-2007 12:35 PM

Wow wtf is with the bashing?

Anyway, he's got a 5-speed.

Rootski 10-11-2007 12:52 PM

The next change you should make to improve that time is the driver.

tajabaho1 10-11-2007 12:56 PM

^ or he can always sell his car and go harrass a honda forum?

zainanwar 10-11-2007 11:23 PM

1. Try to learn without being a dumb street-racer and a general pest. New people here only get abused when they make fools of themselves by asking uninspired, obvious, and pointless questions, often about information that could be readily found with a simple google or forum search.

2. To answer your question, 7.5 seconds 0-60 kind of sucks. If you put forth any effort to learn about your car rather than relying on us spoon-feeding you, you'd have found from a variety of sources that a good 0-60 time for a 6MT RX-8 is about 5.9-6.5 seconds, depending on the driver. Since you have a low-power 5MT, 7.5 is about as good as you're gonna get. If you want to completely destroy your clutch on the launch, you might be able to manage a 7.0 or so.

Now, I have a question for you. What the hell is the point?

needmorespeed 10-11-2007 11:48 PM

It's all about learning the machine and becoming one with the car, sounds corny I know, but once you are really in tune with how your car runs, this kinda stuff comes easy. Just take a day or two at the track, ask someone to ride with you to critique your driving style (friends usually aren't the best, approach an experienced driver [we're all willing to help people learn how to get the most fun out of their cars] and very politely ask him/her to give you some tips). You'll be amazed what little things you can do to vastly improve your driving.

Renesis07 10-17-2007 03:29 PM

my RX8 does 0-60 in 3.8 on need for speed most wanted!

kersh4w 10-18-2007 11:03 PM

he never said he does this on the street. and if he has times for it, he is probably hitting up the drag strip, so lay off his nuts.

5.9 is the absolute best for a 6mt. i dont know what rx8 you have, but its either a 4spd auto, or a 6 speed manual. but im sure thats just a typo in your sig. that time was made with an absolute 8k start with feathering the clutch out. (basically, riding the clutch out.)

if you can do 6.5s without totally ruining your car, you are in good shape.

Juice 10-19-2007 12:31 AM

^^^Its not a typo, Mazda offered the 8 with a 5 Speed Manual in certain countries. It came with the 4 port engine like we have here in our 4 Speed automatics. So 6.5 0-60 is probably way out of his range

tajabaho1 10-19-2007 12:52 AM

, I think 6.5 is obtainable with full bolt on mods, because I can pull 0-60 in 7 second flat with a brake launch and the mods listed on my si.......shit I dont have it no more

well, lets just say, intake and exhaust + some other ignition crap

I think if you get insanely light wheels and all the bolt ons, you should be able to get high 6s

ofcourse the MTs would be about high 4s by that time

DefinitiveDetour 10-19-2007 02:53 AM

You do brake launches taj? Isnt that really bad for your car?

The last time I tried a few brake launches I had to get a new tranny for an Xk8. Bit of warning for you I guess.

happened when I was 15 and speed hungry... ive changed since then

:uhh:

tajabaho1 10-19-2007 03:07 AM

^ I have a 6AT, and my brake launch is at about 4.2-4.4, somewhere around there RPM, its not bad for the car at all since the car doesn't have enough torque to overpower the rear brakes from a start, and thats our torque converter stall limit :)

DefinitiveDetour 10-19-2007 03:10 AM

Just remember taj, you have the 6port auto with 212 hp and he has the 4port engine which is only 192 hp so that pretty much accounts for your .5 second difference.

tajabaho1 10-19-2007 10:51 AM

ooooh, I see, I never knew the 4 ports came with 192........I thought it was always 212? wow I'm dumb

anyhow back to topic, as I said, I'm sure heavily bolted on MTs (with all mods from flywheel to full exhaust) can achieve high4s, and with a great launch even mid 4s

but I think someone needs to try that :)
