Hey guys,

I just picked up my dream rotary(FD), so I'm finally selling my 2008 40th Anniversary(Metro Gray) RX8 with the 6-speed manual transmission and about 105,000 miles on the chassis and 35k on a reman engine. I'm assuming the best bet is to return it to stock and part out the aftermarket stuff unless someone just wants to buy it for $10k with everything still installed. Looking for $8k at stock configuration. Clean title.

Compression: 99, 105, 100 @ 250 on R1, and 104, 96, 110 on R2.

Engine has been premixed since day 1 and I’ve run Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 since the engine was installed and never move the car before it hits 100F, and never take it above 3500 RPMs before the temp gauge is in the center and the coolant temp is over 160F, and stay off full throttle until the coolant temps are 180F or higher. This engine has never flooded and the engine has never been turned off below 150F. It has never had an issue starting, hot or cold. Never been overheated, no steering problems, no oil or coolant leaks, OMP is still healthy as far as I can tell. It has been garaged since I bought it used at 55,000 miles(with the exceptions of the occasional weekend out of town).

I also have an OEM catalytic converter that was used for less than 5,000 miles before I swapped to a gutted factory midpipe, this will be on the car at time of sale. This catalytic converter was provided by Mazda under the 80,000 mile powertrain warranty when troubleshooting the failure symptoms of the previous engine.

I have exterior photos below, and will add interior photos once I get a chance to dust off the dash and vacuum the carpets. :wink2: The driver seat is currently a cloth seat from my old '04, but I have the driver side copper red seat that came with this car in my garage to fix the heated seat solder issue.

If the car sells as stock instead of as-is, these modifications will be removed and parted out:
$600 - Authentic Mazdaspeed rear wing + trunk lid attached so you don’t have to drill your original lid
$450 - HKS Hi-Power Single Exit Exhaust
$300 - AEM CAI (Silver/Polished)
$350 - Cobb Accessport
$300 - Axialflow Short Throw Shifter
$275 - Progress Technology F+R sway bars

Mods staying on car regardless:
BHR Ignition Kit (replaced/installed less than 5k miles ago.
Race Roots clutch reinforcement bracket
Stainless Steel Brake and Clutch lines
Tein S-Tech springs
Bilstein factory struts(came with 40th anniversary package)
Flex Grounding kit
Clear corner side markers

Current maintenance:
• Tires: Sumitomo HTR Z-III – around 50% life in front and 80% in rear(rotate to even out)
• Brakes: Hawk HPS 5.0 pads – 50% life, standard centric rotors – 75%+ life left
• Coolant: Zerex Asian Formula
• Brake and Clutch Fluid: ATE Type-200
• Engine Oil: Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 Synthetic and Mobil-1 M1-110 filter
• Transmission Oil: Ford Motorcraft
• Differential Oil: Redline 75w90

• Current issues:
[concern]There has been a suspension pop since I bought the car 55k miles ago that I haven’t been able to find by either tightening every bolt I can find or replacing common suspension components (struts, end links, sway bars, cross brace, etc). Only place I haven’t looked is lower control arms and I will be checking those out shortly.
• [concern] I clipped a brick in my driveway moving about 5 mph that bent a small portion of the passenger side front fender behind the wheel on the bottom of the car near the seam, you can’t see it unless you’re looking for it but it is there.
• [concern] Transmission whine is present since changing to the Ford Motorcraft fluid, which generally has a great reputation and feels awesome.
• [annoying]The keyless ignition system has recently started not detecting the key fob unless I hold it right near the ignition/key barrel and the driver side door unlock rubber button on the handle came off while I was washing the car. Unsure if the key itself is the issue or if there is a sensor going bad.
• [annoying] The wheels all have some curb rash that was there when I bought the car.
• [annoying] Little scuff just to the right of the Mazda logo on the front bumper. May polish and massage out completely.
• [minor] Passenger airbag plastic just developed a minor crack, this is beginning to be very common in RX8s but still annoying to look at.
• [minor]Before I bought the car, someone scraped a minor portion of the rear panel behind the driver rear wheel on something - scuffed a bit.

Late response, but this vehicle sold in April 2018 for $6,500. It was returned to mostly stock with the exception of the mazdaspeed wing, although I included the original blank trunk lid with the car as well.
