OK NOW im getting spooked..what's up with this car?

Im headed down S parkway, n bound , about 8 this morning, and alls well. I pass full rig and change back into the lane in front of him. I have 6-8 car lengths, no problem RIGHT? WRONG!

I look up and the light at the interection I am approaching has turned yellow, so I started to stop, I have plenty of room, no squealing of brakes, a normal stop. I look in my rear view, (due to the last rear ender I had), and see this thing half jack-knifed in the road behind me doing eveything he can to stop....

I took a quick turn( thank GOD I could) to the right, to avoid being hit AGAIN, and I was not ten ft from that intersection when he came barreling through it.

For those of you that know me, I have a Copper RED 8, lights on, sun out, clear blue sky.. what is going on??. Im beginning to think I'm jinxed!

I am 42 yrs old, have been involved in two accidents in my driving career...one my fault, one not....but since I have had this car I am really wondering...can they NOT see it?

do your brake lights light up properly?

praxis1301 11-06-2006 09:57 PM

yikes! we need to hurry up and get some pics done before the car is no more! maybe you ought to use another car for your daily driver, and save the 8 for rec use?

You have brakes and the truck doesn't. He was expecting to run the yellow light. You came to an unexpected stop for the light.

i have noticed that the 8 had really good brakes. Even though my car stops really well a lot of cars don't. Although i think in your case the truck was in a hurry and wanted to go through the yellow and didn't expect you to stop since you had just passed him.

100% the truck's fault. Regardless of your car's brake lights - the traffic light was working. Glad you're okay - GOOD looking out. Most people forget to look behind them when slowing.

I dont know what happened. I do know my brake lights work. I made sure all that was taken care of and was working properly after this last little impact, just in case. I suppose he was going to fast. Im just glad he didnt hit ANYONE on that 4 lane considering the traffic.

Praxis, this is "my" only car. However I think that I may take a second look at getting a "daily" driver. I have been thinking about picking up an old supra like I had before to run around town in, so as to actually keep the mileage down on the 8, and they are fun in their own right.. I have my hubby's el-camino, but I dont use it unless I need to haul something.. I tell ya, yesterday was an eye opener.

Lesson young and old alike!

DONT count on the guy behind you to see you, no matter WHAT you are driving...and ALWAYS watch your A**:)

My favorite is the idiot on a cellphone that slams on their brakes at the last minute for every stop, just because they don't pay attention.

That reminds me of a funny one I saw one day, a chick talking on her phone swerved to miss a car that was stopped in front of her and when she did she let go of the phone, it went out the window and hit the stopped car. I laughed about that one for a while.

rec use or wreck use? So far it seems like rddragoness may have the same curse that a friend of mine has. He has managed to wreck his 40k Mercedes twice in as many months. Once for 12k and the latest for 8k. Thank goodness it is a lease.

THANKS! Mike!.That is NOT comforting......lolol

I slipped away unscathed this time...ONLY because I now have eyes in the back of my head.

It was a Miller and Son flatbed roofing truck I think, or the other one Lewis and Son? Had blue writing on the door, I remember that much when I passed him.

Ya know...YOU, Brook and I REALLY do need to get together for a drink or a steak or something before I end up out of an 8 altogether! People arent going to believe I have one if they never see it! Only a couple of members from the other" side have seen her, at an autocross event this last september. I was a spectator, I do not race. I am however looking forward to the trip to the DRAGON next year..Nothing around here is "as" challenging, but the TN mountains are great for practice as well as the southernmost local one in this city. hehe That I get to drive daily.

I think we are trying to get together tomorrow (Thursday) night. The location is still up in the air if you have any ideas.

:Eyecrazy: well i am not one who likes to run the red but on yellow's i have a habit of checking behind me before i brake due to the fact that i have been hit two times in the rear bumper at red lights car totally stopped and at lease 20 other cars stopped at the same red light three lanes stong!!i have added a fourth brake light(fog and running light.)and it seems everyone and there mother gets so close you would think they want to drive into your back seat!!i do not know what the hell is on there minds but driving this car for two and a half years i have learned to check the front once and the rear twice!!!it's an t.grey and i think there is some type of field around it that makes it invisible??don't know what else to do but i do look out for the fools and i am more worried about there driving opposed to mine!keep your guard up and look out for the blind people driving around you!!!!!stay safe some people cannot believe there eyes when they see this great car!!!50 yrs young and loving it!!
