Ok, Gauging interest on this.....
I typically hold a few 'private' track days at TGPR (Talladega Grand Prix) a couple times a year. Although very informal, we tend to get a lot of track time, and spend about equal amounts of time discussing more advanced suspension / chassis tuning techniques with our cars.
For those of you on the cusp of doing mods, or who want to continue to tweak their cars / driving prowess, these are great events. I like to keep them informal, but I try to have some engaged discussions with the group (which I like to keep small) to really delve into specific questions.
Anyway, I am 'considering' putting one on at the end of September / first of October, and I was wondering if any of you would be interested. I would really like to get a few of you folks there to help me decide on the appropriate route for my RX8 purchase down the road. I spent a full year riding in, driving (sometimes), and working on Evos, before I bought mine. I found this level of research really helps guide you down the right path later.
One caveaut (SP?), although driving is key, learning about the physics of the cars is equally important, and if you want to come, be ready to contribute in those discussions. I don't expect anyone to have all the answers, but I do want folks to at least weigh in on the topics. I have learned a great deal about alot of types of cars doing this, which has helped me endlessly as an instructor. I think the knowledge is equally as important to all drivers, especially when running in traffic. Knowing how the car in front of you is going to react in a situation allows you to prepare exit strategies for yourself, making you more likely to avoid /evade issues down the road.
Anyway, this is kind of long winded, but if you are interested, I would love to have some of you folks there. I love watching / learning from others, and I invite you all to attend, should you be inclined.
