North Central Florida (Gainesville Area)
 

Hey all new to this forum seeing as I just found out about it the other day. Just wanted to know if any buddy meets around the Gainesville area and if so how often. I just picked up my RX-8 in august and have been loving it ever since. Also I'm always up for road trips and car show's.

Welcome to the Forum! As a grad of The Univ. of Florida I love the G'ville area. I have not yet heard of a meeting coming up, but as more of us get our 8's I am sure things will roll around.

from what i understand, there seems to be a pretty active RX-7 presence in Gainesville. I have met at least 4 or 5 owners at some barbeque's in the N. Florida area. As a matter of fact, there is a bbq in Jacksonville this Saturday and I know there is a caravan coming up from Gainesville and I believe they will be joined by at least one 7 from Tampa. here's the link:

I know that the hosting 7 owners are trying to get at least one or two local 8's to attend.

Glad to see more Gainesville people on the forums. I just got on this forum thanks to Fritz (thanks man!)

Anyway, would like to meet up with you sometime to check out your car and so you can meet some other FD owners in town...3 other FD guys that I hang out with a several other FC guys who we see.

We plan on going to the rice meet at Ale House on Thursday Night around 9:30 if you can swing that.

Also we will be caravaning up to Jax for the BBQ.

Yeah, if a few of you are up for it, come to the Jax BBQ this weekend. It's not that far of a drive for you Gainesville folks. For me, it's a little longer, but this one will be worth it.

I'll do my best to make it this thursday. I'm working a double at work so I might be there a little later then 9:30 pm (More like 11 for me!). Any way's I wish I could make the BBQ this weekend as well but let's be honest it's Florida / Tenn weekend and I have a lot of friends and family coming. But next time for sure.

Also on a side note I have now seen 4 RX-8 in town. A blue, 2 Red's and well mine. I know a girl drives a blue the manager of the local Mazda drives the one red and I just saw a Red with Black/Red interior today on campus (Girl driver) temp tag's still on. So that make's it 4 all togeather.

We'll probably still be there around 11...well, at least I will be.

yeah, it hurts to miss the game, but I'll catch it on the radio.

Had a great time your car is amazing in person must say. I look forward to doing some stuff to mine as well. Hopefully your friend is willing to mabey work on my car he seems to have done a great job with yours. Catch you all next week.

We'll all be more than willing to help you out. Between Jack/Tom/myself we have all the tools you would ever need. Great to meet you and your friend Dave. We'll have to take you guys for a ride in the FD's someday...of course you'll have to return the favor in the 8.:D

I'll have to let you take it for a drive one day. If I remember you havent drivin a 8 yet. You all have any tools for removing minor dents? I think I got a small one today during the florida football game. I think it's impossiable for anyone else to see but I saw it and that's all that matters.

Sorry...don't have any of those tools. Damn that sucks.

Girlfriend at U of F
 

hey guys, I live in TN but my girlfriend goes to the U of F and I will be in Gainsville next month for my Fall Break, so if anyone wants to meet up I will be there for a 4 day weekend... I'm driving my RX-8 so I should have a pretty comfy ride down.. :) but I gotta keep all the love bugs off it... :) let me know if anyone is interested in meeting up next month sometime.. I will post the dates when I figure out what they are.....

I will be down Wednesday October 15th and staying until October 19th... so I would deffinatly like to get to gether to meet some other owners.. my RX-8 is winning blue with the Grand Touring Package, no spoiler or factory aero kit.. its all stock... but I do have the 6-speed... :) and I will be the one trying to hide the Tennessee license plate and UT hang tag.. lol..... :) and I will be staying about 5 miles from the University of Florida campus with my girlfriend in her apartment.... :) and excuse me if I hang all over her the whole time.. I don't get to see her much and I want to take all the time I can to be with her... :)

Ok, living in TN and being a UT fan/student are two different things altogether. Sorry but we can't hang out...especially after we got our ass handed to us on a rocky top platter....sigh...:(

Ok Gainesville people... I am here with my Winning Blue RX-8.. if you see one with Tennessee tags on it then that is me.. I haven't seen any RX-8's yet but I just got here last night.. I came down a day early to surprise my girlfriend.. if anyone still wants to get together then I am around the area untill Sunday afternoon.... reply on here if anyone would like to meet up.. the more the merrier....

I'm a UF Grad. The saddest day of my life was the day I graduated from UF. I miss Gainesville....

It was great meeting ZUMZUM_RX8, glad I caught you before you left. Hopefully you'll enjoy the G'ville stay, maybe migrate from Tenn to FL and hang out with us rotary crazies.

Next time you come up we'll have to plan an RX-7 BBQ!

When I was in Gainesville back in mid 90s, we used to have a car club meet every thursday by the Ale house, near the bookstore there. Are they still meeting?
