new guy

I dont own an 8 yet but I am currently searching. If I can't find the s2000 I'm looking for then I will deff be in the 8. But I'm curious I watch a bunch of videos on youtube rx8 vs s2000 and stock for stock the 8 always wins that's road racing btw. But what I guess im trying to ask is should I wait to find the s2 or should I just get the 8?? Im open to any suggestions

Thanks

Are you trying to buy an AP1 or AP2? The AP1 have the same transmission housing as the RX-8 along with a 9k redline. The AP2 has a bigger displacement but only revs to 8k I believe.

As for the RX-8s, are you looking at the second gens or the first gens?

what does speed matter? Every car onthe market can go the speed limit so if you're not takin it to the track then it doesn't matter as long as you can go 75mph at most(highest speedlimit in U.S.)

stfu....

the ap2 dynos around 210-215 whp
the ap1 dynos 190-195 whp
the ap2 is faster....and has some better features...personally i would get a 2004.....

s2k is faster than the 8 and handles better but the 8 looks better imo and has a back seat, both are fun to drive and rwd....test drive both and make your decision..

Buy the 8 and mod it. A few tweaks to the suspension and the tires/rims will make it a car for you. The biggest question you need to answer with the two cars is whether you need 4 seats or 2.

Depends on the driver...I beat two S2000's last night at AutoX. and got beat by the one in the Pro class. Also, it was only my 3rd event.

Would it be a good idea to make the wheels and tires the same size all the way around or should I have them staggered I'm shooting for more over steer

you would like to have the same sized wheels to take away form the draw backs of a staggard setup... you may want to check out www.rotary4life.com

Both the 8 and S2k are great choices. It just depends if you want slightly more sport or slightly more practicality. I think you'll be happy with either car, as long as you know what you want out of it.

ok im not able to get ahold of a S2k so i am getting a black 8 what i need to know is there any N/A mods i can do to the 8 to get it to 300bhp?? and what is the best suspention set up. for exterior im just going to do what speed source did to their rx8 minus all the carbon fiber and widened front and rear. so just a splitter, rear diffuser and wing (maby)

you better do a lot of research before you think your going to FI in the 8. So far i've dumped 8,000 and still not FI yet. And that's a big no freakin way to get 300hp NA on an 8 pushing to the limit with every mod possible maybe 230 at the wheels.
