Hi Blake and welcome to the group. I brought a 04 RX-8 with about 45K and have put on 10K and have had no problems so far with the engine. As you will see by reading in these forums check the oil about every 500 miles or so. These cars love oil. I never owned an s2000 but my cousin did and I rode it several times. In my opinion, the RX-8 is a much better handling car then the s2000. How many miles are on your future RX-8?

Never driven an S2k, but if you haven't bought/driver either, drive them both and decide for yourself before you are "dissappointed" in one car's performance over the other.

The RX8 is the best handling car I've ever driven. But seeing as my earlier cars were old skool american boats (oldsmobile, caprice), no one should be surprised.

Also, there are a slew of upgrades for suspension, intake, exhaust, even a number of FI opportunities if so inclined.

Where are you located? You should put that information in the "User Control Panel". You may even have members in your area that have meets that you could attend to learn more.

Reliability of the car depends on how much time and effort you are willing to put into your car. Use only premium fuel (debated by some), premix (another topic of debate), and general maintenance (plugs, wires, coils, oil, tires) and you will have an amazing car with gorgeous looks to boot.

You can answer all of your questions by reading the different threads around the board. The "search" button is your friend, not to mention the "stickies" under each topic areas contain a plethora of information. Have fun and read a lot.
