NASA-SE Winter Meltdown @ CMP Feb 9-10 2008

Registration here

HPDE cost is $289. CMP has some pretty exciting features and has been slightly reconfigured to make it a bit faster and easier on brakes.

Post up if you are going to be there and what group you are signed up for.

Stop&TurnFreak 01-21-2008 08:53 PM

:), will be making me re-debut, probably instructor, but I may sign up for HPDE2, just so I can get an instructor, and hopefully get better.

So, you coming to this one? You need a roomy?

OnRails 01-21-2008 09:39 PM

I've signed up and I'll be there for sure. It will be interesting to see how the new changes affect flow of the track. Since this is a track where I am already very comfortable, I'm going to try HPDE 3 and see if I survive. :)

Stop&TurnFreak 01-21-2008 09:51 PM

You will be fine, just be realist, and watch your mirrors. You have to keep your nose clean, and you will be ok-doky.

TrackAddict 01-21-2008 10:05 PM

I am on again, off again, and back on again. I would need a roomie. Call me Tuesday and we can talk.

Stop&TurnFreak 01-22-2008 10:46 AM

Call you later today, just FYI, if you need anything to help make this happen, let me know. I would really like to have you there, been a long time, and I am going to be RUSTY !

John - It will be great to see you again. I am sure you are going to do great in DE3. Hopefully later this year you find yourself doing TT too. Mazda is now offering some contingency money for TT-ers.

STF - if you sign up to instruct, you will be on a waiting list. All the HPDE and TT classes are open though.

Stop&TurnFreak 01-22-2008 04:58 PM

I will sign up for HPDE this week. I shouldn't have waited, but I wasn't sure the car woudl be ready.

I've got some static bumper guards that I'd like to have evaluated for the track. Anyone care to be a guinea pig?

I just sold the street RX-7 today so I may come to this. I've been in the market for something to tow the race car, so now I have room for it.

TrackAddict 01-22-2008 07:51 PM

I will

Duh ... what are static bumper guards?

If you go, I already have a room and no roommate. See ya Thursday in sunny (hopefully) Florida.

Stop&TurnFreak 01-22-2008 11:09 PM

TA, sorry, I got busy, call you tomorrow.

Remember NASA's new rules - if you are DE2 you must request an instructor.
Although I think that comment was in jest - from what I heard, you need an instructor like I need a..... whatever, something I don't need.

Can't believe I might be missing this. :spank: Nothing is written in stone.

This time next week we'll be on the way to tech inspection. Here is the preliminary weather forecast from the official NASA weather and trophy girl...
"Greetings!
General Lee's forecast will be right on in the southeast tomorrow for ground hog's day. Enjoy the beautiful spring-like warm weather next week all across the southeast! The nice warm weather will last up until the weekend when we go racing, then we get a nice blast of refreshing artic cold air straight out of Canada. As always, my eyes are watching the models. I will keep you posted on the forecast starting this weekend at http://www.event-weather.com
Looking forward to seeing everybody at the track next weekend for the annual artic freeze at CMP.
Sincerely,
Melinda "

Gotta love that Canadian air. Can you say HORSEPOWER??? (I may leave the Miata at home).

TrackAddict 02-01-2008 03:25 PM

I'll take 50's over horsepower any day.

Who else is in? I have Kurt, Onrails, STF, and me. Lego - are you in or out?

OnRails 02-01-2008 03:53 PM

I've talked my brother-in-law into coming with me as support. He should be able to get some good pictures and or video. He won't be driving though. The wife won't let him get another car until he sells his motorcycle. Any chance someone can give him a thrill ride on Saturday?

I am sure between me and Kurt we can get him on track. Has he ever gotten car sick?

Not yet. :)

I'm determined to get him addicted. Does that make me a track pusher?

Stop&TurnFreak 02-01-2008 07:36 PM

Right now, I am OUT. I had a guy drop 15m with our company, and the only time he can meet is Saturday in NYC. I HATE MY JOB!!!!!!!!

Well that sucks. Money talks I guess.

legokcen 02-02-2008 02:59 PM

I may be able to stop by for a visit. I'll be in Charlotte for the weekend to visit family. On my way back on Sunday, I'll try to spend about an hour at the track if all goes well. Hopefully, I'll see you all there.

OnRails 02-04-2008 08:54 AM

I got the brakes on this weekend and the midpipe installed. I didn't get a chance to hear the car with the midpipe until this morning on my way to work. It is LOUD with the Mazdaspeed exhaust! I had to coast into the parking lot at work. I hope I don't go over the decibel limits at CMP. :)
