Just for reference... They don't give out landscape bills... not sure how I know that? Think I must have dreamed it. :D:

TrackAddict 08-26-2007 09:11 PM

I've gone 2 off at the top of tunnel hill (both times I was at Barber) with no grass replacement bill. Now if you hit the armco, thats an entirely different story... I know because last time I was there an M3 was written off and the owner had to replace a bunch of armco at no small expense.

SilverEIGHT 08-27-2007 03:03 AM

When I drove at a AL SCCA event at Barber, at the driver meeting, the guy in charge of the grounds was there and the topic came up about going into the grass and he said they do charge people for that anymore.

L8APEX 08-27-2007 06:03 AM

it is my goal, to keep all four rubber tires, on the asphalt at all times. :) they work bets there. I am not much for off roading, or kitty litter.

SilverEIGHT 08-27-2007 06:15 AM

As you get faster, you will eventually get two wheels off. It's not tragic... just don't do at at barber on the right side of the track just before making the left hand turn at the kink! Trash on the tires there is a que for disaster.

wonder if i can make the engine damper resonance sound like Lead Zeppan?

At first, I laughed at that. But knowing you and your tinkering in the shed, it would not surprise me at all to see you show up playing Stairway to Heaven thru the dampers. :)

SilverEIGHT 08-27-2007 09:01 PM

OD... getting that 8 for tracking?

TrackAddict 08-27-2007 09:02 PM

There is a big sign outside Roebling Road that says No Stairway!

BTW - who the funk is Lead Zeppan? Is that polka music?

olddragger 08-28-2007 11:02 AM

just 8K you can loan me--i will gladly pay you back on Tuesday!(remember the charactor on Popeye?)
OD

SilverEIGHT 08-28-2007 11:38 AM

Denny, wish I had 8 to spare my friend. That would be a fun project.

L8APEX 08-29-2007 11:58 AM

Those of you who would like to squeeze one more in before the end of the year (and who here couldn't use an early Christmas present?), check out the PBOC event in November at Barber. The cost is $400 for the weekend. You can also sign up for just 1 day. If you have never driven Barber, the NASA weekend will just whet your appetite. You will want/need more Barber (and cowbell). There is something just amazing cresting tunnel hill and feeling the car wiggle under you as you rocket to the apex of 12 at the top of 3rd gear.
Linky here.
Schedule here.

TA, I am curious. Talk to you next time I see you.

dbright007 09-08-2007 01:47 AM

Quick thought for everyone. Barber is gonna happen really quickly after RR, so might be a good time to start thinking about hotels and whatnot. L8 is checking out a few. If you already have it under control, great. I just didn't wanna get stuck in Anniston 45 min away.

TrackAddict 09-08-2007 08:45 AM

TA2 and I have a room a the Fairfield Inn Birmingham Inverness

SilverEIGHT 09-08-2007 02:04 PM

Wanted: roomy or roomies
My snore score: 2 on a scale of 10
Hearing score: 9 on a scale of 10

Is camping an option this time of year?

OnRails 09-09-2007 10:39 PM

I'd love to go to this but it's 6 hours away. :Eyecrazy: Only about 2 hours to fly....wonder how you would go about strapping an RX-8 to a Cessna?

take Friday and Monday off. :yesnod:

but unless you are already signed up, you need to, soon, I think the word is that the event is already getting close to being SOLD OUT.

Phlash 09-10-2007 08:37 AM

OD, OMS......I need a roomie..........somewhere other than the $300 rates i am finding.....heck, I'm about to camp at the track..............

SPICcnmGT 09-10-2007 08:42 AM

Try checking out Best Western or Hampton(I think), at the Leeds/Moody exit. It's about 3 miles from Barbers. Coming from ATL it's the exit before Barbers.

Phlash, If you are not totally set yet, check the Fairfield Inn at Birmingham Inverness. Less than 100$ a night. Me, L8, TA, and TA2 in there so far. And I know OMS is looking for non-snoring roommates so he does not have to shoot anymore of them.

I did not qualify.

OnRails - Pull out the friggin T.. and sign your ass up. You're gonna be pissed if you miss this. I am a cash weary at the moment, but I saw this track at the Rolex/Koni and had to go.
Let's just say they run the Rolex/Koni Challenges there. It is a heck of an impressive place.

Phlash, I'm in on a room with you at regular rates. Otherwise, I'll be camping with you. Just let me know what you find.

Phlash 09-10-2007 11:38 AM

we're in and reserved at the Comfort...or it's 25$ to camp at the track + 25$ each day for power if we use it
