I don't disagree about traffic. However, remember that there is a Fuddruckers inside Andretti.

Six I think. I am hoping White05 will sign up too. Also, Lego has not signed up yet... I'll PM him and remind him that this region is preregister online only.

Splan8 05-14-2005 06:15 AM

Reminder to Lego, White05 and Win Blue....

Take time to register for the autocross ASAP...

Do I have to call them to schedule a slot? Price?

Nope, just show up. We have a running count on who is going, but there are a couple of non-8's coming too. So who knows how many there will be in the end.

Edit: Sorry I forgot to mention price. $50, 3 pulls.

So far the weather looks good for Sunday. 10% chance of rain, so let's hope it stays that way. I am antsy as hell waiting for this weekend to get here.

Splan8 05-16-2005 11:53 AM

Guys, I am afraid I am going to have to duck out on the Dyno day. I am being given the opportunity to do an Autox novice school and am going to take it before I get past the allowable "age" in the sport.

It will finish at 5:00 and I will have my cell phone handy so please feel free to ring me about andrettis that night. Trhoads... I'll shoot you a PM with my cell# so we can all hook up again at Andrettis.

Splan8 05-16-2005 08:54 PM

if you want to autocross this weekend as a novice and have not signed up yet, stop reading this and do so now... (White05 & Lego)

Seriously, there are only a few slots left. Please do it now....

On a side note, here is what to bring/what to do:
Helmet (or cap for the loaners like you wore at Andrettis)
Something to eat & something to drink
Tire pressure guage
Comfy shoes & race shoes
Cap
Sunscreen
some tape (painters tape is agood choice)
$35 cash
Drivers license
----------------
Get all the loose items out of your car, including the floormats.
When you arrive, find the tech station and go through tech.
Sign in and get your work assignment
Don't walk in grid unless you are racing
Listen for the announcements about the Novice Meeting and go. Even if you aren't in novice. PAY CLOSE ATTENTION.
Walk the course as much as you can...
Anticipate how long it is before you race and warm the car up. Don't jsut get in and start and race an instant later.
Take your first one or two laps intentionally slow and memorize the course.
You only get 4 runs, so make the last two or three count!

Tips:
Get there early and try to memorize the course.
Tighten your seatbelt by fastening, grasping, unfastening, twisting 3 times and fastening again (should be very snug then).
If you feel you need some assistance, find someone that looks like they are in charge and have them find someone to ride with you.
Watch other drivers, some folks out there are amazingly good.
Enjoy the heck out of it...

So far these are who I can tell are going to the Dyno Day. Add your name if you are not on there, and take it off if you can't make it. Is meeting for breakfast @ 7:30 still the plan for everyone?

I attached a map for the location of Dynolab.

5-21 Dyno Day @ Dynolab - 9:00am - whenever:
- Marietta8
- SpyderDoo(& friends)
- Trhoads
- Uacolon(& friend)
- Whenson417 (maybe)
- valpac
- Landon Starr
- Nabil(as a spectator)

Spyder_doo 05-17-2005 11:07 PM

I plan on eating with yall before the dyno thing. How many people are planning on going to eat?

Jamie

whenson417 05-18-2005 11:45 AM

I'll be able to make it for sure now. Where is everyone planning on meeting up for breakfast?

Splan8 05-18-2005 12:26 PM

It had been mentioned that there was a Waffle House near by and we were kind of running wiht that assumption...

uacolon 05-18-2005 12:42 PM

break fast at waffel house

i am in for breakast
tbone steak and eggs with a side order of hash brown and gritts
here i come
:D

Splan8 05-18-2005 12:48 PM

So no signup for the Autox from Lego or Chris yet...

whenson417 05-18-2005 03:42 PM

The only awful waffle I can think of that is near dyno lab according to the map is the one off of Roswell road just at the top of the hill east of the 120 loop. Does anyone know of a closer location or have any other suggestions?

L8APEX 05-18-2005 05:25 PM

I am not familiar with that area, someone who is will have to speak up.

I want to know why I am not getting updates for this thread anymore?

I am still subscribed to it, so this is confusing, thus the face.

EDIT:
New map showing both destinations.

Marietta 8 05-18-2005 07:29 PM

Wes is right. there is one at Roswell road or htere's the Marietta diner on 41 or there is another waffle House at Delk and 75 before you get to Powers Ferry. Powers ferry will take us all the way to Dynolab in short order.

Arthur is looking forward to having us and I am really looking forward to seeing how different our cars are. All of the ones that I have driven feel really similar so I hope that we throw down some good numbers.

for reasons of comparison I would recommend everyone running premium gas if you are not already doing so. Also be sure to tell Arthur what flash you are on and he can note it on your sheet for future reference.

L8APEX 05-18-2005 08:55 PM

So where would everyone like to meet. The Waffle House or somewhere else? No matter to me, just trying to figure out where to go, Marietta is like another country to me, I am never over there, and thus have no idea where anything is.

This one, sounds good to me, it is easy to get to. We just need to decide which one to go to, so that we all go to the same one, I can se us all showing up at 4 Waffle Houses.

Nabil,

I know that in Roswell, that Waffle House wanted to build a new Waffle House right across the street from an existing one. So you were not too far fetched with your joke!

This seems to be normal attendance now... We should get 4 each. They hope by the end of the season to get up to 5 each.

Oh, and there is actually 269 signed up now. 19 afternoon novices and 12 cars in my CSP class.

Who is bringing a cooler? I'll get a case of bottled water and bring that. Someone should bring some snacks...

legokcen 05-19-2005 09:47 PM

Sorry guys/gals, I can't make the autocross this weekend. Going to the beach with my wife. I will make all needed preparations to make the next one though. After seeing all those videos, I'd love to run up there.

Splan8 05-20-2005 07:52 AM

Actually, there is a discussion happening over here about meeting at the local cracker barrel.

Splan8 05-20-2005 02:48 PM

Saw Trhoads today at Mazcare... he has the Chazzzaust installed. We are still planning on a trip to Andrettis if anyone is interested.

valpac 05-20-2005 03:46 PM

So which is it, crackers or waffles?

whenson417 05-20-2005 03:58 PM

I think Crackers

L8APEX 05-20-2005 04:33 PM

Cracker Barrel at Delk and 75, 7:30 a.m.

And for anyone who has not been over to see Charlie and the gang at Mazcare, I would recommend it.

Looking forward to tomorrow, and the invite is open to all those that want to hit up Andretti that night. the other travis and I are in, should be fun.

Splan8 05-22-2005 09:28 AM

Had lots of fun yesterday, saw Trhoads at Andretti and we both did great! Very pumped up for the racing today. See you guys there shortly...

Splan8 05-22-2005 09:26 PM

Autocross was great!!!

The results will be posted in the next few days to the boards.

I wish I had more time now, but thatnks to everyone for coming out and watching/running.

L8APEX 05-22-2005 10:07 PM

The autocross was a hell of a lot of fun. I have not had that much fun in a long time. Thanks to splan8 for riding with me and giving me some pointers. I learned a lot today, and really felt good about how I ran. This car handles so well, it makes it easy. I was dissapointed to see that I got a DNF on my best time, I keep going over that lap and can not figure out what I missed. Oh well. It was fun anyway. It was good to see everyone out there.

I will post the pictures that my brother took, probably Tuesday night. They are on regular film, so I have to go through the old fashioned developing process.

Now I am looking forward to the next one.

Splan8 05-23-2005 10:03 AM

I really like running in that lot. It has a kind of "city park" atmosphere to it.

Kurtbob, Nabil, Jamie and Trhoads pulled some fantastic runs. I was really impressed with how much improvement we all made to our times. leaps and bounds, really.

It was great to see everyone hanging out...
- Winblue8
- White05
- Valpac

(whoever was in the red RX8 did well too, 800 degrees?)

Anyway,
That was a fantastic day out... you guys did great and I am glad we all had so much fun. On a side note, I think I have 3rd place in CSP... 2 tenths off from the civic with the R compound tires. Wooo!

There is another run in a couple of weeks, check the site if you want to go again. Also, there is a divisional here in Atlanta that I will be going to as well as one in Chattanooga we are considering going to.

Spyder_doo 05-23-2005 12:36 PM

I didnt have a chance to look at the final results. I know my friends in the blue jetta got sixth and my sisters s2k placed behind them. I'd like to know where everyone finished though. I'm not even sure what number I was. It wasnt near the front I know that much. I think my biggest problem was I was having too much fun sliding all over the place to realize I was trying to beat the clock. Had a great time though and cant wait to do it again. Speaking of which, when is the next time we can do this?

Oh and that red 8 that was in the last group to race was great. He was pulling around 68s or something. Way to go whoever you are.

There was one black 8 that ran morning and he was interested in joining to forum. I told him where he needed to go and what to do. Hopefully Jeff, I think, will join us shortly.

Jamie

Ahhh... second place could have been yours!

There are something like 12 events this year, with a few special races thrown in at actual tracks (little talladega I think). They have a new web site: http://www.soloatlanta.com/

The next autocross one is June 5th at TURNER FIELD and registration is OPEN. If you want to run novice again, please sign up ASAP!

Oh yeah, Nabil, you have run novice twice, so now you get to run with a class. Depending on your mods you will be in STU or a Street prepared class. I will be there again and hope to be even closer to first place in CSP.

Phlash 05-24-2005 11:47 AM

Nice shootin' Nabil.......Have a great Holiday ya'll!!! On my way to Myrtle Beach! WooHoo!!!

http://www.geralds.net/RX/nabilautox0505.wmv

PS - I'm working the rockingham NASA event mid June and am pulling a 30ft trailer to camp at the track with sleeping room if anyone else cares to join....remember...credit toward track time.

Splan8 05-24-2005 12:11 PM

Cool video. I guess we need to sit the camera higher for the cones, though.

whenson417 05-24-2005 12:20 PM

Would you mind posting the link to the website to sign up for June 5th? Am I right to assume they will have a novice class again? If so I will see if I can't get a good time with the paddle shifters.
Thanks,
WES

Yes, there is always a novice class. They also offer novice schools once in a while (well worth the money).

As for the link, here ya go... http://www.soloatlanta.com/

whenson417 05-24-2005 12:41 PM

The website is saying that the event is at Turner Field again? Is the website wrong?

whenson417 05-24-2005 12:56 PM

Does anyone know how to enable cookies on a computer? I am trying to register but the website will not let me do it until I give it a cookie. I apologize for being a dumbass.

I had hte same problem from my work PC and figured it was an issue with our corporate policy, but now i am not so sure.

Anyway, you can still use the old link:

whenson417 05-24-2005 01:20 PM

What car class do I put and also is it safe to list all the accurate information and when is it ok to put bogus stuff to keep Mazda off my back about racing my car?

whenson417 05-24-2005 01:37 PM

Nevermind, I figured it out. Anyone else signing up for Novice afternoon?

Splan8 05-24-2005 02:32 PM

I will be there in CSP and will be glad to ride along with you/anyone if I am not also running at the same time.
