Everyone OK After Hurricane Charley?

Just making sure all you West Coast Florida people are ok! Seeing the damage, brings back memories of Andrew. Please be careful out there!! :(

everyone in the tampa area should be okay - it barely rained, and the wind was like 4mph at it's peak where I'm at.

a normal summer day rains more than it did yesterday.

I feel bad for those who evacuated and headed east to get out of the way. They ended up being sent towards the path of the hurricane. My neighbors decided not to stick around, they went to Daytona... and so did the hurricane. They're still not back.

One of my coworkers lives in Tampa. When his neighborhood was evacuated, he headed to Orlando -- I hope he's OK!

Well, I work in punta gorda and live 9 miles north of PG in port charlotte. Lucky me i came to Tampa for the weekend to be with my girlfriend in her first hurricane. She had just moved up here and was freaking out. I was about to tell her to drive to my house for the weekend.. glad she didnt now.

From the pictures everyone is seeing in PG, my work is about a half a mile to the west on the shoreline. I talked to a few people and they were all ok, but work has some major damage to it.

My house on the other hand has some 100+yr old oak trees uprooted in the from and backyard. No apparant damage to the house, but i havent talked to my roomates since last night around 10pm.

This wont be fun starting monday when im at work trying to salvage a lot of stuff for the university i work for.

my servers are all down and the livelyhood of the company is at a halt. *sigh*

We're okay here in Jax. Had more damage done by Bonnie's twisters a couple days before. You guys in Miami okay? Keep watching...there's a couple more storms out there.

My home is open to anyone seeking refuge...

my parents house in seminole is fine, but im really concerned about my place in orlando. there's some big pines right out back and alot of lawn furniture that wasnt secured down. if any o-towners wanna run by there for me and check, I'd be forever in debt.

Nothing down here in Miami. All we got were winds yesterday... no rain. The night before though there were downpours in certain areas. It's a beautiful day though outside, good enough for the beach! But I know there are 2 coming here. Danielle and I forgot the other one. #5 we gotta keep an eye on.

No problems here in North Tampa, in fact worse weather was today...
I heard about people in Orlando and some from South Tampa came to stay just in case but there was no need in the end.

I wonder if Sunday would be a good day to get a deal on an RX-8 I doubt if the dealerships have had much business... almost as good a deal as the end of the month?

SpaYllwS2K 08-15-2004 08:22 AM

With a little scratch and dent, i'm sure you can get a great price on any car. Matter of fact, I saw a Toyota dealership that well.... no longer exists, except for the cars on the lot. I don't think it's a time to start worrying about a car though, if you have the extra money best thing is to spend $10 - $20 and buy these people some water and food.

No I wasn't meaning to go into some destroyed town and negotiate! That is heartless..

Sorry if I came through that way...

OK you Miami RX8 Owners/Driver/Enthusiats!

My Brother, who is a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Fire Fighter just advised me that they will be collecting Food (Non-parrishables), Water, Diapers.. etc. for the victims of Charley over on the west coast. They will also be getting together and going over to help out the 7 Fire Stations which were destroyed because of the Hurricane, and be serving the fireman hot food, drinks and helping them out.

Of course my reasoning to this post is to see if you guys can help out of course. It's to a good cause and you know that if it would have happened to us, we'd need and appreciate every bit of help. So here's the information.

MDFR Station #47
Location: Coral Way & 92nd Avenue (Next to the Library)
Miami.

Feel free to swing by and drop off:
*Canned Food
*Water
*Diapers
*Can opener (to open the canned goods)
*Dry foods

Anything you can think of, that of course will not get ruined. Remember even if you contribute $10 - $20 worth of items it'll be well worth it. Of course any more information I get i will post and hopefully you all will help out.

Thanks guys & gals!!
-Cindy

Cindy,

For those of us in Jax and farther, do you have an address where we can send cash donations? I know we have the Red Cross and Salvation Army, but after allegations of funds being "re-directed to other projects" during 9/11, I'd rather cut a check to a local effort, where I'll know my contribution is going toward helping those for which the money is intended.

Thanks for your efforts to help those who need it.

Randy,

I honestly do not know. I am sure they will start a collection to help out the other fire fighters on the west coast (rebuild the fire stations, and their homes). I will talk to my brother tomorrow and get some more information from him. Soon as I know more, I will post it!

Thanks
-Cin
