Atlanta Car Wash

Recently went to

Sky Wash Detail Lube
11865 Alpharetta Highway, Roswell, GA 30076

and they did a good job. Also took it back the same day and they did a good job for a second time that day.

However, the following week I met a friend (another 8 owner) there and he was very upset with them. Apparently while drying the car they put fine scratches on his car. I was in line to get mine done, but cancelled my membership instead. It was an easy decision. Its kinda pricey. a long way from my home AND who needs swirls on their car from dirty rags?

Just a friendly word of caution. If you are as fanatical about the appearance of your car as I am, think twice about letting this place wash your car.

thanks for the info val, I was just considering taking the car over there this weekend to get it cleaned up. i guess no one does it like the owner.

There's only 1 person I trust to wash my car except me, and he picks it up and everything.

You let someone pick your car up and drive it away?

L8APEX 01-17-2006 07:25 PM

yeah, there is no way in hell someone is taking my car away, not a snowballs chance. I will not even valet the car anymore, I am afraid they will park by ear, and take the front clip off my car. And any wheelstop in town will do that.

Georgia8er 01-17-2006 10:07 PM

When it's someone that would pay to buy you a new one if something happened, and they're totally trustworthy. Yes.

That's better, but not good enough. If I have check in hand for the replacement, maybe! But I'd still call their bank to verify.:squint: :)

No one washes my car but me. If I don't have time to wash it, I just let it go dirty for a week and find the time later. I'm about 3 weeks into a dirty car now because I've been sick as hell and the weather sucks! My Wheels are black. We had about 1/2" of snow several days ago up here in Hall County and it took the biggest part of road grime off so it doesn't look too bad. It's raining this weekend... Oh well!

RedLineShinka 01-21-2006 01:34 PM

yikes! that's my biggest fear as well... dirty rags and swirl marks... that sucks!!

This black-cherry-mica paint is next to impossible to keep clean anyway... and I've got a paranoia about any more scratches/swirls/chips in that gorgeous paint... I won't take it anywhere that isn't "touchless"... and that's just for a daily rinse between weekend washes.

Later guys.

I stopped paying other people to wash my car when I realized that none of those places can do a better job than I can. Those guys aren't going spend 1 - 2 hours on my car and go over every inch as many times as I will. They'll treat my car like it's just another chore to get through whereas I'll be a little more passionate about it since I own the damn thing. And it's pretty rare to find a place that you know for a fact is using quality cleaning products instead of just cheap wholesale crap. I'm not saying that they're all horrible, but when you learn to appreciate washing your own car, it's hard to go back to paying other people to do something you can do 5 times better, and at 1/16th the price (water usage).

Preaching to the choir.

I agree with everything you said. Anyone that knows me knows how much time I spend making my 8 look great. I was just hoping for a decent place for a quickie when the weather is too cold or I just cant find the time. The place is very nice and since the Ferrari/Maserati dealer next door sends all their inventory thru them you figure it has to be good, right?. (Boy wouldn't that suck to spend over 100K for a car and find swirlies on the hood?)

But, alas, you're right its only work for them and pleasure for me.
