I'm not sure with the sporadic interest... it's not looking good at this stage. It's been dragging a long time and of the people that have expressed interest over the last however many months, the chances of people actually putting down money in numbers is looking pretty slim.

If you guys want a handful of kits we can do an extremely tiny 5 production kit run but it would add $250-400 to the cost minimum. If no one wants brakes no one wants brakes... not sure what else to say. We've taken a stab at a number of performance parts here that we have and love on our own car, only to find that people only seem to want some basic brake pads or slotted stock rotors... the RX8 community seems more focused on maintenance than performance modifications IMHO. Bit confused as performance is really all we do over in the FD world

I think you've hit the nail on the head - IME the FD crowd is a lot more performance oriented than the RX8 crowd. I've owned both and my FD wasn't quite as stock as my current RX8 is .

Just stumbled across this thread and that is a amazing price for a BBK, I personally have the stoptech kit and so far it has been more than capable of my driving abilities even on the track. I believe you will find that more younger owners now own these cars and the forums are not taken advantage of like the good ole days. Social media is where you will find them but another challenge you may face is getting their attention may take a different approach. I wish there was great priced opportunities like this when I was building the car haha.

We're working on a caliper upgrade to go over the stock rotor up front, as it seems that might be a better fit for some of the guys that aren't ready for a BBK upgrade.

We're working to make the brackets reverse compatible with the thicker 325x32 mm rotor as we've already got these rotors and hats in stock from the FD RX7... and brake lines for the RX8 Wilwood setup complete... so brackets are all that's left at this point. It just has to be right for the community... and the BBK option seems to be a bit beyond what the average RX8 owner needs, so we're trying to put together a few options.

We're back at it... looking for interest once again if you guy want a BBK for the 8. We've got quite a few NC guys on board for a smaller version. If there's no interest we'll make it anyway but the price will be significantly higher 1600 vs 1275. We need a minimum of 10 people. Sign up if you're actually interested in buying one

Hey Brettus,

I believe the group-buy is going for $1,275. The $1,600 is without the group-buy.

You need to add you name over here :https://www.rx8club.com/vendor-class...ke-kit-262671/

Confusing having two threads for the same thing !

I would guess no. However I don't have actual proof, but based on low interest it seems it did not happen.

... I can't figure out if RX8 owners push their cars hard though, it seems like they are more of a daily driver/commuter (which makes no sense because they get absolutely terrible gas mileage ). At least in FD-land when we're driving around, we're not going to work or the grocery store, it's on back roads, highway, track, car shows, etc.

Maybe I'm just misunderstanding why people own RX8's. Miata owners DD and tune their cars, and they're rusty and worthless as well. Soon you guys will realize that your cars are just parts cans, which hold performance parts which make your car a better performing car. This is the Miata and RX7 mentality. If you bought it as a slow daily commuter, you picked the wrong car
I can confirm that a rx8 brake kit has in-fact been made and they're waiting to be shipped out to enthusiasts. I've spoken with SBG about their brake kit in person before and the responses above pretty much sum it up.

Good to know! I found this thread after I ordered the kit online and then didn't hear anything from SBG for two weeks....I was starting to get concerned . One thing that always bugged me was how Mazda cheaped out on the brakes for the R3, nothing says "top tier sports car" like single piston sliding calipers . Looking forward to correcting that.

I hope they keep developing products for the SE3P for those of us who are interested
