BNR Greddy Turbo Upgrade Pricing

I have received a bunch of PM's regarding the pricing on the BNR upgrade for the Greddy turbo.

Info: New CHRA, upgraded thrust assembly, 60-1 compressor, water cooled center housing, clipped turbine, ported wg.

Price is $1050 and we need your turbo for the upgrade. Turn around right now is about 10 days.

Shoot me an email if you have any questions jason@rx7store.net

Thanks

Whats up RX8 people!

We have completed a hybrid turbocharger upgrade for the existing Greddy turbocharger for the RX8. This one is good for around 360 RWHP. 100% bolt up with no fabrication involved!

Not only is the turbo upgraded, it comes with a water cooled center section so you will improve the lifespan of the turbos drastically! We throw in the line kits with the turbo so there is little to no hastle fitting them into the RX8.

This is what you get with the BNR Supercars hybrid:
  • upgraded 360 thrust kit for ultra high boost applications
  • upgraded compressor wheel (58 lb/min)
  • custom machined Greddy compressor housing
  • clipped turbine wheel
  • ported wastegate
  • ported volute
  • Dynamic balanced to .5 gram/in2 or less
  • All new center housing rotating assembly
  • water cooled center housing
  • water cool kit
  • 1 year warranty
The turbocharger comes ready to reinstall. All you will need a coolant source! It will save you time and money down the road and you will KNOW that the job was done right!

It doesn't require a buildable core! So if your turbo is trashed, don't worry about a thing...

Sounds like a good deal, but isn't 360 whp a bit optimistic for the TD06? Even with crazy porting and clipped wheel that sounds like a huge number for a turbo that struggles to reach 280 whp normally. Surely it can't flow that much more?

Water cooled core is very nice though. Best of luck with this!

Must...resist...pressing the buy button...

For those of you interested in how this turbo will perform, when I install I will then dyno it. It will include BHR Ignition Upgrade as well. As far as I know it, I am the first person to have BNR Upgrade Turbo, so I will post feedback when it is installed.

The TD06 isn't a small turbo. The TD06H turbine makes the GT30R and the GT28R turbines look TINY! The 18G compressor is way too small but I have seen piston engine cars make 550WHP with that H turbine and 60-1 compressor. I have a customer that dynoed 520 AWHP with the exact same set up with a 7 cm2 turbine housing in a subaru wrx. The greddy turbine housing is a 10cm2. Yes I know 350 RWHP can be made with this turbo. Its a very good turbocharger, just needs all the right parts to make it perform and last.

wow good deal, this option came about 2 weeks too late...already had mine rebuilt and upraded...no water cooling either. :(

This is a great solution to my problems and I will definitely send out my spare turbo to get rebuilt but do you have any GReddy wastegates I can buy also?

The one I had got crushed when my car got towed with the motor mount missing. :(

I am using this ATP Turbo wastegate: http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...gory_Code=WGT1

It required a custom bracket to make it fit but it rubs and makes some serious vibrating noises.

Here is the finished product. Enjoy!

I should be able to make you a custom actuator that will work. The stock RX8 is a 7 psi spring. I can get those universal wastegate actuators. I may be able to tuck it closer to the compressor housing or put it in front of it that way its not further out. I haven't tried finding the greddy actuators. It would be cheaper just to do the custom one.

You need a different bracket, that's all. The guy who made it for you obviously didn't account the very tight tolerances of the GReddy kit. Many people run this actuator with no problem, myself included (well, a larger version).

And Brian, the "stock" RX8 is actually 0psi, LOL. But the stock GReddy kit is only 5psi, BTW.

Bryan@BNR 03-19-2009 06:30 PM

The Greddy wastegate has a 7 psi spring. That is the cracking pressure. If you are seeing 5 psi in the car after installation then you are seeing pressure drop through the intercooler and then back pressure pushing on the wastegate valve assembly.

05rex8 03-19-2009 10:24 PM

^didn't know that....
I see 5psi on the dot without a boost controller. Makes sense.

Jason - you doing any packages for people who would be buying the full Greddy kit through your store with the upgrade?

Motomouse 03-20-2009 03:02 PM

+1 for your question RK

Jason 03-21-2009 03:42 PM

Yes I can do a package deal on the turbo kit and the upgrade. I will get some pricing and post it on Monday.

Here are the pictures of the CHRA's 18G vs. 60-1 as promised...

G-Gray dude 04-17-2009 01:37 AM

does the turbo itself will get a rebuild say if the turbo has been used for like around 12,000 miles?

Bryan@BNR 04-17-2009 11:02 AM

I replace every component in the CHRA (Center Housing Rotating Assembly). Thrust components are upgraded, Bearing housing is replaced with a water cooled version, compressor wheel is upgraded. Since everything other than the turbine wheel was being replaced with new parts, might as well throw in a new turbine and heat shield so it can be called "new" and not remanufactured. It assures the customer a solid product plus I can stock these units all assembled and ready for orders. Thats if I have a consistant amount of orders which is going to happen.

Is your turn around time still 10 days?

Bryan@BNR 04-20-2009 06:16 PM

Right now I am 2 weeks minimum. I am starting to get really busy with RX7 turbos. I have one here and parts to do an extra one coming in the mail now. Talk with jason and he will let you know what to do.

I am planning my install the week of May 17th. I think as long as it could be back before that, we should be a go.

Siddin 04-21-2009 04:23 PM

Does anybody have/willing to share a dyno for this upgrade?
