Up for sale is my 2005 RX-8 that I've owned for the past three years and 45,000 miles. The car was my daily driver and occasional track day car. There are 80,000 miles on the chassis and approximately 30,000 miles on a dealer-installed motor. The car is mechanically perfect and ready for the road and track.

I am fully aware of the reliability issues with the 13B-MSP and have taken extremely good care of the new motor: fresh coils and plugs every year, premixed with Idemitsu Rotary Premix, oil changed with Castrol GTX and Bosch or Wix filter every 3000 miles or track weekend, and periodic steam cleanings. The cat was removed immediately after driving home from the dealer with the new motor. The car comes with a new Mazda cat with less than 500 miles on it. The motor performs flawlessly on the track and was recently dynoed at ~180whp, validating its good condition. Transmission and differential filled with fresh Redline fluid every six months.

The suspension is upgraded for track duty while retaining street comfort. There are Koni Sport (yellow) adjustable shocks with TIG-welded perches surrounded by threaded aluminum sleeves for ride height adjustment from monster truck to race car. The car is set up for generic 2.5'' (65mm) race springs on the front and tapered 3.5''-2.5'' race springs on the rear. It currently rides on 400 lb/in Eibach springs in the front and 320 lb/in Road Magnet springs in the rear. Ride height and alignment is currently set for the summer with minimal tire wear on the track. Raising the height a little (which takes less than an hour) makes for better tire wear and a slightly better ride on the street. Sway bars from Progress Technology round out the suspension package. Hidden 3'' brake ducts on the front of the car deliver consistent braking performance on the track and have been problem-free on the street.

The paint and clear coat are in great condition. The car has the normal dents and dings from being driven for 9 years and 80,000 miles. There were some small rust bubbles forming on the rear fender lips that I ground off and primed black. I have had a complete body repair quoted at ~$800 at a top ($$) body shop and the asking price for the car reflects the work required for the body to be in pristine condition. There is no other rust on the body. Apparently, the problem is so common that Mazda issued a TSB and warranties the rear fender lips in Canada ("northern environment").

Reason for sale: Wanted a dedicated track car so I bought a Miata; the RX-8 was just too good as a dual-duty car.

I am a serious seller looking for a serious buyer. Cash in hand or meet at a bank. Reasonable offers will be considered but don't come if you are going to low-ball. If you are new to the RX-8, I encourage you to read up on the new owner thread here. These cars require care but they will be good to you if you are good to them. Email or call with any questions or to set up a viewing/test drive. Please read the entire ad before asking a question that has already been answered.
