2009 Mazda RX8 R3 - New Mazda dealer installed engine less than 4000 miles ago. New plugs and wires and both new O2 sensors and new Cat, New Windshield, new tires/ 245/35/19. A/C works great, has all the normal R3 options. 6 Speed. 6 disc cd, All Stock except window tint. I am the 3rd owner. Clean Carfax. Passed TN Emissions. No dash lights on. Good to drive anywhere.

When the mazda dealer replaced your engine, was it covered under the 8 year engine warranty or did they try to make you pay for it?

I'm in Nashville.

The dealer did attempt to tell me it would be $7k for a new engine. I had to prove to them it was covered under warranty.

This car has a lot of new stuff. I'm losing my parking spot. Buy me. :-)

Yikes. Yea, I own a 2009 one but I haven't had my engine changed yet. I will probably run into the same issues as you. My only proof is the small statement mentioned in the manual...I hope that's enough =(. At least you were able to get them to replace the engine. Should be like brand new!

$9k in work for a stock car is very concerning. what's the history of the car that required all those replacements of OEM parts?

Clean carfax. Just a mechanical pain. All is fixed now.
