2004 RX8 manual new Atkins ported engine in Seattle

For sale 2004 RX-8 with 117000 miles.
Engine just rebuilt with brand new Mazda rotor housings and cryogenic seals built by Atkins Rotary in WA state. Engine has been street ported by David Atkins while in rebuild (summer 2012). New clutch/throwout bearing installed at the same time. Total 1776 miles since the rebuild (have paperwork). Transmission shifts perfect. Car is located in Seattle area she runs and drives but has a CEL on and also engine doesn’t restart when hot unless the car is push started. Car has brand new battery, starter, coils, engine, clutch and is a great deal for this asking price. Contact me by PM thanks. |

Sounds like you should make a visit to Atkins to get a compression test on the engine :(
No way it shouldn't be running like a champ at 2K miles after a new rebuild Not worth much without an engine :( |
You are correct sir, eventually I'll have to fix it if I can't get any decent money for it like it sits...
I can't imagine it being compression it is a new engine but it would make a good selling point to have the compression numbers on paper. We just got an AMG C43 and instantly lost all interest for the RX8 :uhh: so we thought we would offer it like this first. Maybe someone wants an almost complete project. |
^ you may not get what you want or close to just what you paid for a rebuild in labor. I rebuild my engine and never had to push started ever .. So who ever did engine needs to make sure is tune if he did a large street port ? Need more info for any one to be interested. What is check engine light code for ? Etc

It's probably the seals. Some other users have reported low compression with atkins seals right after the rebuild.
If that's the case it needs another rebuild with genuine mazda parts. |
