Zainoing at night....my new method.

If anyone here is anything like me, when you Zaino your ride, you have a hard time trying to tell exactly where you applied polish and where you haven't. My only complaint about Zaino is my inability to see it as it cures, even tho I manage to get full coverage, it's difficult.

Well, last night I accidentally found, possibly an alternate, new method.

Disclaimer: This method works for me, I do not and will not guarantee it will work for anyone else.

Had washed the 8 yesterday afternoon before meeting friends, horrible waterspots/trails mind you. Polished just the hood that afternoon also, had one hell of a time trying to tell exactly where I start and end a section.

Got home around 8pm and decided to polish the trunk lid real quick. Mixed up my Z2/ZFX, got my towel and my rayovac headlamp. A strap-on(no laughing) head lamp with a 3-position switch for red led, white led and bulb. While messing with the lights trying to see what was polished and what wasn't, I discovered the red led to work great. I could see, not only where i stopped and started, but the individual strokes across the trunk lid. Made polishing ten times easier and a whole lot quicker.

Not sure why or how it shows up as well as it does, red led, pink polish and a blue 8?????? But it does work for me, tho not sure how it would work for other colors or other polishes.

Sorry, no pics..........no digicam.

Your neighbors may look upon you strangely, as mine do, but in the end it's worth it, i think! Besides, this about the only time I have to do it!

LOL :D !!! I can just picture it. Have we gone to far? Next time while polishing, scream into the house:" Hon, I think I shrunk the kids!"

Aww, come on now, it's better than some of my friends that never wash their cars and wonder why their paint job is going to hell!

Okay, maybe slightly amusing.............

And where do we find such a jewel?

I agree that the night technique works....I usually polish at night and just use the overhead garage light....seems you can see the polish/wax better than during the day with all the sunlight....I think you should get your pic taken with your strap-on on your head and make it your avatar :D

This is a sweet idea! Last time I washed and Zaino'd, by the time I was doing my second coat of Zaino it was dark out and I couldn't see anything I was doing. I have to do it in my driveway, and there's no light. Where can I get one of these headlamps with a red led? Night is also the only time I really have to do it as well.

I can see where I put the polish, it has an oily look on the paint. Not sure why you need to do it with a strap on :D

Got my strap-on at wal-mart, found it loitering around the camping equipment. It's a rayovac model. Now that it's getting darker sooner I maybe using it more often, which results in more people eye-balling my antics. whatever, it works.

When it gets dark in my complex, my car sits under an awning, so lights from the parking area doesn't light the area enough, hence, strap-on, light-on!
