Wax on black plastic
 

Sorry if this was already discussed, but I couldn't find it with a search.

The Meguires wax instructions said to keep it off the rubber and plastic, but I got a little on the black parts on the back, front, and around the mirrors anyway.

It leaves a white haze that doesn't come off with a damp towel.
Any suggestions on how to get the wax off?

This is a real pain. Let it really dry. then take on old tooth brush and make quick light back and fourth strokes. Hot water on a cloth to wipe down.......Let completely dry and brush again until gone........Betcha only make THAT mistake once:)

There's always "Wax and Grease Remover" from your local auto paint shop. They use it to strip cars that are about to be painted...but I don't think it's much different than soapy water, from what I hear.

I found that Mothers "Back to Black" worked wonders on the black plastic wax removal. It even says on the bottle that it removes wax from black plastic.

I have some stuck in my fender grills :( I'm going to take them off and try something. I had some on my mirrors as well, I guess I am sloppy.

I used armor all to get it off the mirrors.

Someone mentioned dish washing soap and a tooth brush. Use short stabbing stokes, it seems to do the trick.

I really hate that residue as well. That's why I like to use Zymol. Not the cheap polish products but the better wax products (Carbon, Japon, Titanium) they tend not to leave residue as long as you get it off before it dries.

I find that either simple green or super clean work well also. Just be careful not to get it on the paint. If your car is a dark color, don't use the toothbrush method unless it is your last resort. Also, stop using Meguires wax. I would use Liquid Glass. I use it on my car and it still looks like it did when I bought it and it is three years old. Liquid Glass lasts a lot longer also.

Agreed! As long as it doesn't dry, Zymol has been the easiest produt I have used for keeping black-trim black.
