What does polishing a manifold do, aside from making it shiny? Anything useful?

IIRC, polishing the intake manifold (outside), will decrease the manifold's ability to cool down (less surface area, and heat sink mass), therefore increasing intake temps. So, aside from the bling factor, i'd say go with something like jet hot coating or the likes.

Dude you seriously need to chill with your indepth thought processes.
Do you realize that when you poish aluminum you take maybe .005 off the surface. Do you really think this will result in any temp increase??

Just trying to answer Elara's question. That and I do think the temps will increase, how much, don't know.

personally, I'd rather decrease underhood/intake temps. Although, I do like the polished look, very Bling!
