tons of paint chips and 2 deep scratch repair attempt

Less than 1500 original miles/4 weeks, I have managed to collect about 15 stone chips on hood and fender, 1 long deep scratch on passenger door and 1 inch deep scratch on right front fender. I am thinking the service man at the dealer doesn't like my car or the color. I keep getting the car back with more problems.

After reading the posts, I think I am confident enough to do my own paint chip repair on the hood and the fender. However, I am not so sure if I should start on the deep scratches.

1. Use water downed blue dawn to clean up area
2. Rinse the area with water
3. dry with hair dryer with cold air
4. follow procedure stated on langka products.

Do I need to clear coat the area after it dries up? If I need to do so, what are recoomended clear coat products are out there.

Please give me the to do(s) and not to do(s).

Going back to forum again to research again..

You gotta stop riding people's asses. I stay way back whenever I'm driving on a road at speeds over 40mph for that very reason. Also avoid any roads with recent construction, and don't drive after they salt the roads.

consider yourself lucky, man. after 2+ years and 33K miles, my front end looks like a kid going through puberty. pock marks and chips everywhere. i've even got a nice gouge going down my driver side door after someone kicked up a piece of blown out tread. gotta love that I5, Hwy 18 commute. though it does give me reason to pick up a nice aftermarket kit and hood. hmmmm

good luck fixing up your 8

Why don't you have a clear bra?

you should be able to remove those scratches with som 3M polishing compound

yeah, bought my girl in late 03 and now the front end looks like someone unloaded with an automatic BB gun on my hood. SUCKS

My front end is.. fiberglass... enough said. :hahano:

In three weeks I have found tons of paint chips on the front bumper. Only way to dampen this problem is to get a clear bra. So when I get my front repainted, it will be clear bra'd.

Will the touch up paint from the dealership help with any of the chips on the front end?
