Tire Shine (Wet Look)

Okay sorry if this has already been posted, but myself and a couple other rx8 owners in my area use this. It is very good and lasts for a decent time as well.

You can pick it up for like 15 bucks at autozone and its good for about 2 (separate) coats.

It's basically refrigerant and silicone spray. Not sure how good it is for your tires.

zahrtman2006 06-04-2012 04:36 PM

I have been using it for about 4 months now and havent noticed any degradation of my tire.

Tires have a wax built into them, some tire shines ruin that wax. Just a thought for those with expensive tires. This stuff should be okay though. Hopefully.

Right and im not arguing whether it is or isnt good for the tires, but in my 4 months of use it has been okay

Does it sling off and spatter the side of the car like most of those tire shine products on the market?

SayNoToPistons 06-04-2012 10:58 PM

I only go for water based products... Sorry. Meguiar's hyper-dressing that requires to be diluted. Not sold off the counter.

Not if you follow the directions. It tells you to wait at least an hour before driving. I usually apply it in the evening after washing the car. Then i know I won't be going anywhere

whenever i use any tire wet product it accelerates how shitty my wheels become with brake dust.

I personally hate tire shine, because almost all of them will sling up on the body. Waiting an hour before driving to me in unacceptable, because sometimes I just want to quickly detail something to make the right impression when I get there. Also, I hate the wet greasy artificial shine most tire shines leave.

That being said, I love mother's protectant. It's not actually a tire shine, but it will make your side walls look brand new. Just like a brand new, just delivered clean rubber tire. It's a UV protectant, which is important since I live in the desert, and it will make brown tires look black again.

^ I will have to look into that. I've always used Eagle One Tire Wet. I like it except the drops slung onto the side of my car. Holds the black though.

I use meguiars hot shine. its not a foam but rather a spray. it dries pretty fast and does not fling.

I do as well and it's a good product.

LeJeune123 01-02-2014 11:11 PM

I HATED the Turtle Wax black tire coat. After a few days it was turning brown and flaking a bit. I had brand new tires that I scrubbed with Blech-White before putting the tire coat on. Then I could never get the flaking tire coat completely off. It made the tires look hideous and extremely dirty. If you put this on your tires not even acetone will completely remove it from the tire.

Once it dries it is not greasy at all and feels like really soft rubber and doesnt attract dust. It looks great until the browning/flaking starts.

I use this. It goes on as a gel and comes with an applicator. No sling and being gel it last for two weeks or so, water beads on it, and the applicator allows a controlled application not to get product all over your rims. Super cheap too $7.

I also use this, and it works well, application is well controlled, no mess or splatter, and it lasts.

I though this way would damage it. But would like to try this since there are lots of positive comments.

UrbanCowboy 02-08-2014 03:42 AM

just don't get that sponge wet... they get ruined if they do. So easy to put on though and no mess.

I'm with you in the Not a Fan of Gloss club. I use Armor All Tire Foam. Just a simple, flat black finish.
