Spray wax

what is the best spray wax you can get

ZumnRx8 11-01-2009 08:08 PM

:nono: not another one of these.... everyone has a different preference when it comes to detailing cars and spray wax.... (FACEPALM)... I occassionally use QUIKWAX by Meguiars because you can use it when your car is wet or dry... but after mine you will see everyones will differ....there is no "best spray wax"

Spray wax is for upkeep/keeping your car protected from the rain and elements. It's not to replace proper wax, just FYI.

I know that my Turtlewax Quikshine is pretty good. I haven't tried the Meguiar's spray yet, but I will once my Turtlewax runs out.

I use bees' wax to wax my car and sometimes use ear wax if I feel like giving it a good shine.

Wish I could help but the whole spray wax thing i was never a fan of. I use real wax then spray detailer inbetween waxes to get my baby looking beautiful... :)

All I ever did was spray wax my last ride (Dodge Ram) but since this is such a small car there's really no reason not to paste wax it (spray waxing in between times). BTW I use Meguires because it's the best.:cwm27:

i second this method. I usually spray my car down with the detailer every 4 days or so and try to wax every other month.

I like Griots Garage Spray on Wax for routine washes/waxes. I use it while drying.

It's great between more formal waxing, e.g. Meguair's Nxt Tech 2.0 or Zaino.

I of course use Griot's detailing spray for day to day touchups. ;)

zymol: my quick detailer/spray

^^griots garage...

seeen someone use this stuff. dunno the cost of it, but i can tell u i just picked up a bottle of zymol and mixed a 3:1 ratio of zymol and h2o.

this is my quik detailer. looks the same, but i'm sure its cheaper and actually stronger too.

Silverarrow 12-04-2009 11:56 AM

I agree it comes down to personal preference. Personally I like carnauba waxes, but would rather spray things on - so I've been using System One's Carnauba Spray Wax - best of all worlds. I like being able to put it on while I'm drying my cars. I even use it on the dash/console/interior panels.

TrochoidMagic 12-04-2009 09:25 PM

^^only my one bottle of zymol after 3:1 dilution ratio become 4 bottles... that adds up to $4 per 16oz of spray detailer of a quality h20 based carnauba vvax.

ain't knocking ur brand, just also sharing my cost effective route on the forum =)

its also natural carnauba. no solvents added i believe... it seems like the solid choice for me. if cost plays any role in ur decision, i hope my findings can help out. if thats just ur brand preference... cool.

unlike me... i got meguiars paste, and liquid vvax depending on mood. zymol in a spray bottle is purely used to stay carnauba and quick detailing convenience, helping maintain that smooth texture feel.

just letting u kno, instead of $18, it'll cost u $15 for zymol and u can make 4X the amount of quality stuff.

cheers

Diluting the spray wax to a quick detailer is a real good idea. But just so we're apples to apples there is a difference between spray detailer and spray wax. The System One kit I bought actually comes with a spare empty bottle so you can make your own spray detailer too.

As far as Zymol goes I don't have any experience with it. I'll have to check them out I remember a whole ago there were rumors that zymol was actually turtle wax, but I'm not sure how mich truth there was to that.

Not trying to start a flame war, just something I heard, if it works for you that's all that matters!

BTW what's up with all of the "vv's" instead of "w's"??

TrochoidMagic 12-04-2009 11:17 PM

^^got a broken key...

o, and i'm not diluting spray vvax. i'm diluting liquid vvax... to use as a quik detailer/spray.

and thanx on the heads up. i'll look into the turtle brand and see if its vvater soluable. if its not, than the rumor is most likely false. and even if it does... i got a cheaper brand to make a convenient quik detailer spray from!

but gotta take a long time... i got 4 big bottles of spray to go thru.
(no offense taken silver. i'm actually lazy on this subject as i focus more on performance. but i also look for a good quality product, and happy to share any findings i have to get things done quicker. i'm not a pro, so i vvelcome advise on the subject, as u can see, i'm not the hard-core car appearance freak. i follovv the rule of thumb often left by the ones that ACTUALLY detail their car... and they more often are the ones to buy products like zaino and such...)

cheers

If you really want to learn some detailing info. go to Autogeekonline.net or one of the other detailing forums. Great sites with good products. You can't go wrong with Meguiar's, both the over the counter and professional line. Never been to impressed with Zymol, unless your willing to spend money on their top products. I have always like Griot's, fairly priced with good results. Zanio always gets good reviews. Bottom line there is hundreds of very good products. Like everything else, brand loyalty is high among detail enthusiast and professionals. Just find something you like.
