spots on pearl white
Have a 3 month old '05 Pearl Whitewater RX8 and after washing it this weekend I noticed hundreds of very tiny orange spots in the paint that look like there may have been metal fillings in the paint that rusted.
Anybody see or heard of this? |
Sounds like the car was parked near someone painting something orange

im going to say fall out and contamination. go to www.autopia.org and click LEARN. read up the articles and post in the forum if you have any questions. clay bar should do it.
|
i have it also and it doesnt just happen on pearl whites... and yes those are rust and it happens a lot with metallic colored cars. and if im not wrong, you park your car outside huh? well anyways...the only way to get rid of it is either to clay bar your car or get it buffed off. and of course clay baring will take a long time to do and it will also save a you a lot of money. i clay bar my car like once a month...

clay baring wont take a long time. takes 20 minites at most. those rust spots are fallout. fallout are contaminates. what kind of contaminates? microscopic metal pieces in the air. from what? train rails, factories, ship yards, etc etc etc. it shows more on metallic and light colors because it high lights the darker rust spots more.

Actually just took the clay to my pearl today! For the same exact reason, mine is roughly 2 months old and those tiny spots were starting to multiply.
20 minutes my a$$! Took over an hour, maybe close to 2 with the clay - but well worth it. Followed by a polish and wax. A quick claybar wont get those spots up, you have to work each one almost separtely. |
LOL!! warned you! but atleast now your car is smoother than the first day you got it!
|
Thanks for the feedback.
I'll try the clay bar. Does it come back over time? |
yes it will... unless you car is in an air tight giant ziplock bag. EVEYRONE gets it no matter what. even show cars.
