Only two coats so far. Car has 800 miles on it and is two weeks old.

In front of the new house (4 months since we moved in - issues still being fixed):

The least pretty angle IMO:

The toughest test of all - how much space is left after installing the rear-facing baby seat:

Side view - love the suicide (freestyle) doors and the access they provide for getting the baby seat in.

I have the red with chapparel interior. nice house. How do you like the red interior

antman_x 08-21-2003 06:02 PM

I got the red w/red blk interior. Its awesome! Like you're driving a show car.

pelucidor 08-21-2003 06:06 PM

I love the red/black interior too. In fact it dictated the external colour of the car.

I wanted the original yellow car with yellow/black interior, but that never made it to production. So I went with the red/black interior, which (to me) meant I obviously had to get the red exterior to match.

antman_x 08-21-2003 06:25 PM

I like your thinking. way to go eh?

downshift 08-21-2003 08:14 PM

Forget the car. I want the house!

Ditto!

Are you sure you want the house? My monthly electricity bill (mostly for aircon) is more than my monthly RX-8 finance payment...

Off topic -

Wanna save money on your energy bills? Switch to a Geothermal heating and cooling system. Expensive up front, but it will cut your heating/cooling bills significantly. Also, replace every light bulb with a compact fluorecent bulb -- uses a quarter of the energy of incandecents (19w vs 100w same lumens). Add a solar hot water heater and a couple of solar panels to offset your electricity bills. If you don't like the look of panels, use solar shingles instead.

Nice car. The red looks great with Zaino.

There is a whole system of Zaino washes and polishes etc. See http://www.zainostore.com/ for more information.

The things you really need are Z7 Show Car Wash ($8) and Z2 Show Car Polish for Clear Coats ($13). I got the complete Show Car Kit ($85) which includes ClayBar and other stuff. Probably the best bet if you are new to Zaino (like me) and want to spend all day working on the car.

See this thread for what I did to the car on Sunday.

That's is exactly what I was thinking when I picked out my RX-8. I even gave my car the same labor intensive Zaino treatment (wash w/ Dawn, claybar, wash w/ Zaino car wash, Z2 w/ ZFX, buff, Z6, dry, Z2 w/ ZFX, buff, Z6, dry, gave up on 3rd coat because I had already spent 6 hours on the car). I'm worn out just thinking about it. :p

Obviously great minds think alike! New Hampshire looks wonderful, as does your car. I would give up my house in Houston in a heartbeat if I could move back to New England and have a similar paying job.

That's funny because I would move back to the South West (born in Arlington, TX and grew up in NM) if I could find a similar paying job. Care to trade places? ;)

hey pelucidor
i saw ur house and its really nice do you live in Bay Oaks in Houston? If you do, i live liek a mile from you. What a coincidence.

MrWigggles 08-22-2003 06:23 PM

Pelucidor,

As a suggestion, try using a program other than Microsoft Photoeditor (or whatever program you used) to resize your pics. I am sure they are very nice full sized but the are badly aliased (i.e. jaggies) after resizing.

To demonstrate the difference, here is speed's pic resized to 75% with Photoeditor and are aliased:

MrWigggles 08-22-2003 06:25 PM

...versus Paint where you can use the stretch command on the entire image to create aliased free images:

MrWigggles 08-22-2003 06:27 PM

Just some advice.

Look at the wheels and some of the gaps between panels of the car to really see the difference. At 75% reduction the aliasing isn't as noticeable, but I'm sure you are probably reducing by 50% or so with your images and that is what is making it quite pronounced.

Car looks great either way.

Truly excellent advice. Thanks. I will be editing my earlier posts.
