Sick of layering
 

Is there some sort of polish/wax/cleaner that I can just spray on and dry off?

I think I've seen one on an infomercial that looked really good, but I'm always skeptical about those...

I haven't used Zaino on any of my cars yet

But from what I've read on their website and in this Forum, taking 4 or 6 hours to polish/wax your car every month.... and THEN washing it regularly every week is just too much for someone like me who is a full-time chemistry student and part-time worker and devoting time to church all at the same time.

I don't have time to wax my car for 4 long hours, let alone the back pain I have in my lower back.

Anybody have any solutions?

I'm looking for real answers.. the sarcasm is a little old...

/edit: Maybe someone here can explain the simplest way to use Zaino while still getting great results.. I can't seem to understand the zaino website when it says the minimum i need is this bottle and that bottle and another recommended and then mixing this and that ounce together and applying layer after layer.. it just seems too painstaking...

I'm a zanio user, and I actually think that zaino will do more or less what you want. No wax I've ever used has gone on smoother or come back off easier.

That being said, you can skip the claybar step, and you can put on 1 layer every 3 (or even 6) months and probably be OK. I'm a little more obsessive compulsive than that, but 1 coat of zaino will protect fine for some time. Personally, I suggest starting with 2 coats and adding one every 3 months or so at the very least, but it's your car :)

Order 1 bottle of just the wax, you don't need the ZFX or anything else... you won't be dissapointed. Zaino will let you work exactly as hard as you want to.

Try "Liquid Glass". It's similar to Zaino, but much easier to use, from what I read, but I've never done Zaino. I use LG and it takes maybe, at most, 30 minutes to do the whole car start to polish (after washing). Goes on clear, dries so you can see it, then rub it off. Excellent deep, water beading finish. says it needs to 'cure' in the sun after finishing for best results.

Everyone has their favorite, some like to spend hours polishing, but not me, I prefer driving, :)

First off, you do NOT have to apply Zaino every month. While it is true the INITIAL application takes fairly long, subsequent applications take just 1/2 hour to apply (if you use ZFX).

Of course if you don't want to wash your car 'once a week' then why bother 'waxing' it at all.

I now have 10 coats of Zaino on my car, and every night I dust of the body off with a california duster, and use the smaller interior California duster on the wheels. I clean my windows too. If needed I will use Z6 detail spray. Total time = 13 minutes. I only have to wash it if it gets rained on, or if I have som extra time.

Zaino is by far the easiest, longest lasting protection/shine product I have ever used.

A buddy of mine swears by Kit. His cars have always looked good and won shows. They have a washwax, spray, and paste. He uses the paste. After my current batch of turtle wax runs out, i am going to try it myself.

I have to say that liquid glass is the best wax I have ever used. I have 13 coats of it on my car now. The other day I accidentally hit my front fender with my car key and it didn't even leave a scratch.

I use Finish First. I can do the whole car and leave it over night before taking off if I choose to. The longer it sits, the better the results. Also no white stuff getting every where. Search for "Finish First". I have used it for a few years now. Also easy on, easy off.

After reading everything about Zaino, I think i'm going to change my mind and hop onto the bandwagon and get perhaps minimal usage as suggested on the website.

those evil tiny rocks on the Hwy95/SR-163 are killing my car like crazy...

I have a half-inch crack on my front windshield now... does anyone know how to "fix" that? Like using some sort of polish to make it disappear???

I bought the whole kaboodle of Zaino products. I wanted to get my car in tip top shape while it was still new so lucklily I was able to do it before we had any bad weather.

I Dawn washed, clayed, Z7 wash, Z5, Z5, Z2. That took me 4 hours on Sunday. Today I had the day off so this afternoon another Z7 wash, Z6, Z5, Z6, Z2, Z6, Z2. That took me another 4 hours or so.

I figured put in the time now and it will make my life easier from here on out. The 8 feels slipperyer than a raw oyster :)

I'm still trying to figure out if this is fun or hard work :p

I've never spent this much time on any of my previous cars over the past 25 years of driving...not even my 84 GSL-SE when it was brand new...am I giving away my age :(

Welcome to the club (the zaino club). You will be amazed how easily your car is washed now. I did about what you did.

Day 1, drove the car home about 8 pm.

Day 2, left work at 2 to polish the car. Z7, claybar, Z5, Z6, Z5, Z6, Z2, Z6.

First Saturday after delivery, Z2, Z6, Z2, Z6, Z2, Z6.

Several weeks later, received front mud guards, strakes, and exhaust finishers. Z2, Z6, Z2, Z6 the car after installing the parts. I don't think I did the finishers.

Now several months later and over 8k miles, the car still shines and beads great. And washes so easily. I go to the car wash, put in the $1.50 for 3 minutes I think and never add another quarter. I keep three white all cotton bath towels in the trunk, and can dry the car in 8-12 minutes. My car's a daily driver but 99% of the time looks show quality with minimum effort thanks to zaino.

Near future, fix many chips and do 6 more coats because I saw pics of a car with something like 22 coats and man was it sweeet!

as obssesive as I am about keeping my 8 showrrom condition, I have to say that is borderline 'mental'.....3 coats of Z2 and 3 coats of Z6 in one sitting? I truly thought i was the only person with no life!

Is Z6 supposed to be the last coat you put on? The Z2 coat feels slipperyer than Z6 so I've been stopping after the Z2 coat.

...or at least when they throw a drink on you it'll bead right up...

It really doesn't take that long, as least with the ZFX stuff.

1. Wash car ~ 15 minutes

2. Z2 ~ 15 minutes

3. Wait for Z2 to dry 30 minutes

4. Wipe Z2 off ~ 10 minutes

5. Spray with Z6 and towel off ~ 10 minutes

6. Repeat steps 2-5 twice more ~ 2.1 hours

Total time ~ 3.6 hours with 1.5 hours spent waiting for Z2 to dry. So really 2.1 hours of work. I move pretty quickly so your results may vary. And my estimated times may be overly optimistic, but that what I remember. Next time I'll keep a log.

I would never give up the claybar step. I was amazed at how well that worked. You can literally hear the parts of the paint that aren't as clean; and when you are done with the claybar, it's really smooth as glass. I've also taken to using my discarded claybars in the bathrooms and kitchen of my house. The fridge, the bathtub the polished countertops. Wow. Stuff is getting much cleaner.

I too was a claybar disbeliever.

However I purchased one to test it out. I bought Mothers brand claybar. I am really impressed.

I dont clay the whole car though. I find that it was not needed when the car was first waxed (2 weeks after delivery).

The areas that first needed claybar treatment were the lower rocker panels and just behind the wheel openings....like around the fender strakes. This is due to road tar and tiny debris clinging to the paint surface from the spinnig tires.

I have also clayed my alloy wheels to remove tiny black specks of brake soot prior to applying wax.

What I have not done is clay the broad areas like the hood or roof. These areas feel glass smooth already.

I am also paranoid at the thought of using contaminated clay and consequently scratching my finish. I use a clay bar for those areas only (rockers and wheels).

I clayed my entire car 3 days after I got it. The car felt very smooth and I doubt the clay took off a whole lot of junk since there probably wasn't any...but I figured it couldn't hurt. I wanted to do the best job that I could when the car was still new.

what about drying?
what the heck are you putting it on with? i run about 30-45 minutes putting it on and by the time i get to the last part I can start buffing it out.

I"m down to about 20 minutes or so.........

Times are greatly longer as the temperature drops. I have to leave the Z1 on for several hours.
