Scratched Leather

So, SOMEONE sat in my 8 and scratched the passenger seat, probably with a button on their butt. The scratch isn't a full tear, it's really more scuffed than scratched. Since I'm so anal about my car, I want to fix it. What products do you guys use for leather "repair", or what would you use to fix this? I'm thinking of just putting some black shoe polish on there, but I didn't want to do that if there's something else that will work better.

Update: Here are the pics:

I would see if there is someone that has leather repair near you and get it professionally done. I had a small tear in my seat and a few discolorations, and was able to get it fixed good as new for 50$. Unfortunately, it was a local guy, so getting you his contact info would help

Black leather Dye (vs. polish) will work. Then after it drys you can go over it with a leather treatment like Meguairs. Use sparingly just on the scuff of course.

I'll add a pic later to show you, but it's black if you look at it from one direction and the other direction it's kind of scuffed up. Since I'm so anal about my car, I want to fix it. The leather is peeling on the drivers side seat...

I don't have any scratches in my seats. The leather on the base of the seat, where your butt sits is peeling...Anyone know of any quality repair kits for this issue? Thanks! :hahano:

Theres a guy selling the red leather cosmo seats from a 40th anniversary, both front and back and they look to be in very good condition for a STEEEAAALLLLL. They look hot in my rx8. Upgrade to red and forget about trying to repair these.

On another note, i have a tiny cut in my seat about the diameter of a penny and dealerships have upholstery people who can color match and seam any cuts and make it look like it was never there, ask your dealer if they have anything for your situation.

Thanks EricB! Two-toned Red/Black leather would be sweet in my Black RX-8. Those seats look great! First, I'll have to locate a quality re-upholstery place near me. I was thinking about getting those "Neoprene" covers to fit over the front seats. They really have a lot of foam padding to them, but didn't know how that would go over with heated leather seats underneath?
Thanks again! :)

Id recommend either the cosmo seats and selling your black set, if you think about it like that, the seats might just cost you less than an intake. Besides, they have bragging rights of being only 1000 ever made.

I wouldnt get the neoprene covers for a scratch like that, the covers look fugly IMHO.. Id just do what someone towards the top mentioned and getting a type of leather liquid that stains the leather back to black. Go to an upholstery place (especially ones with old ladies) and ask them what you could do aswell. DONT RE UPHOLSTER YOUR SEATS. THATS RETARDED.

Yeah, lol, Neoprene would be good for a suv or something. The neoprene would definitely take the overall "cool" factor away, for sure.

I'm waiting to see how much for the "cosmo" seats...that would be my first choice. And then sell my black seats. If not, I will probably repair the leather myself, and yes, go in and see what the "Old ladies" have. lol

Thanks much for the info!
