Scratch Removal Ideas
 

Hi, I have a Titanium Gray RX8 with a few scratches accumulated around the roof area. They don't photograph at all so I didn't feel the need to post any up but they are very obvious once you get close to the car.

There are many scratches, about 1-2 centimeters long, and aren't too deep. I think it's only scratched the clear-coat which I've heard is reversible. Any ideas on how to remove them?

depending on how deep they are you might want to wetsand the clearcoat first. (2000 grit).
then use a rubbing compound (heavy cut polish) this'll remove the dullness made from the sandpaper. You'll have to rub it in quite a bit if you dont have an actual machine buffer.
then use a lighter polish (a light cut/finishing polish). because the rubbing compound will leave some slight swirls/not shine it up completely.
and finally wax the area.

you can probably skip out on using a lighter polish. its just that in the sunlight you might be able to see that hologram look from the rubbing compound.

So I just wet sand it like I would wet sand anything else, correct? For some reason the idea just seems so far-fetched on car paint even though someone suggested this before.

If it's not too much to ask, can you (or someone else) recommend a rubbing compound and a lighter polish? There are too many products out and I don't know which works well.

When it's all said and done, will someone be able to notice that there were once scratches there or will it be virtually invisible if the scratches aren't that deep?

honestly, any OTC rubbing compound / polish will work, especially if you're just doing a spot applied by hand.

If you really need recommendation, Meguiars M105 followed with M205 is good.

wetsand with 1500 grit, follow with 2000 if the compound won't buff out 1500 grit scratches, but don't go too deep. It's really hard to say how much you can sand without just trying it yourself.

Depending on how deep the scratches are, you won't be able to see it all.
