Rain-X Latitude Wiper Blades

Has anyone ever used a set of these on their car? Opinions on effectivness? I was thinking of grabbing a set.

Couldn't find a thread with any info on them, mostly just info on other Rain-X products.

I wouldn't mind being the guinea pig if no one has used them.

I just bought a set last week. Couldn't have come at a better time as we've been getting a lot of rain here in Austin lately... They work great for now as any 'new' wiper would, however, I did read a review in Consumer Reports where they were the best rated wipers out of the bunch they tested for a year.

GaMEChld 03-14-2009 01:00 AM

Thanks for the feedback. Guess I'll grab a set when I wear my current set out.

I have a set. They're about 10 months old. Some minor streaking, but overall was a good performer through our fall/winter. I'd expect to replace them after about a year, which is normal for around here.

I also installed a set on a Subaru Impreza. They chattered and squeaked at the top of the arc from the get go. Replaced immediately with another set. Put up with them for about a month, and replaced with conventional wipers. No problems, lol.

And, yes, I did clean the windshield thoroughly with alcohol (in both cases)...

So, thumbs up for the RX-8; thumbs down on the Subaru.

n00b question - what size would we get for our cars?

StealthTL 03-14-2009 10:09 AM

Man. That's lazy.

Yeaaa. Well i've never touched my wipers on any of my cars. So thats why i prefaced it with 'n00b question' lol

EDIT
Lol, found it

GaMEChld 03-14-2009 01:21 PM

There's a sizing tool on the Rain-X website. According to that, my 04 RX-8 will need a 20" driver's side and an 18" passenger side.

Edit: Which you already found evidently. :-P

Meh i went with the Bosch Icon's... Same wiper pretty much but i love them... Ive had them for about 4 months and the quote is true "Only grandma hugs tighter". If its barely raining and you have them on going kinda fast mine will literally start sticking to the windows, execellent blade IMHO...

Socket7 03-14-2009 05:30 PM

I got a set last month. Best wiper blades I've ever found. (I'm not sure that says much)

elysium19 03-14-2009 06:19 PM

they are really good in the rain, but I find they have the same (small) problem as just regular application of Rain-X; i might be imagining things, but there is a slightly annoying haze in glare conditions that I noticed both with the blade and with regular rainX. again, could be imagining things....

savedsol 03-14-2009 10:20 PM

They don't have Rain-X on them so you're imagining things.

I have had the Bosch Icons for (honest to goodness) 25 months and I'm just starting to think about replacing them. I'm in Chicago so they've seen -20F to 110F. If that doesn't speak volumes... Only problem is the damn price. Fortunately a couple times/year a Advanced Auto had a BOGO on all blades.

slimjimrx8 03-14-2009 10:33 PM

i have the bosch icons also and it lasted all thru summer and all winter and still now and they are perfect still... it cost like 40 or 60 for both
i highly recommend the icons...if you wanna see them lemme kno at school n ill show you

GaMEChld 03-14-2009 11:47 PM

2 years is a great run for wipers. Think I might have to go with the Icons.

WTBRotary! 03-15-2009 12:28 AM

Yeah I am very satisfied with the Icon's... Ive used Rain-x products before and wasnt satisfied very well...

savedsol 05-29-2009 12:04 PM

Icons still going after a cleaning with denatured alcohol. Amazon has them for cheap and Advance Auto gets you a cordless drill of some sort with purchase.

rodjonathan 07-06-2009 06:35 PM

been 6 months they still work great i def recommend them

Lizard2974 02-14-2012 08:47 PM

Just bought Icons at Amazon. Waay cheaper than Autozone or tirerack. Plus free 2 day shipping. Only $34.67 with tax. Woo!! I'm going to give these blades try...I have anco wipers on now...they are streaking...naughty. LOL

EricB 02-19-2012 01:07 PM

I had rainx on my 09, they were great, but really annoying in very minimal rain conditions, the blades apply a coat of rainx to the window and when there isnt enough rain on the window it shakes i think, i dont really remember. They were really good though. My mom has them on her jeep for about 3 years now and they just as good as any other 3 yr old wiper, pretty sucky and streaks.

Thanks for the info. I have yet to try rain-x blades. I have icons now. I'll give them a try. I'm hoping they are a great replacement to my old Anco's.

(FYI: We don't realize it because they deteriorate so gradually, but wipers need to be replaced after 6 - 12 months. If you think your 2-year old blades are still great, replace 'em; you won't believe the difference.)

Thanks New Yorker! Just had my first day of rain here with my new Bosch Icon blades on. They totally clean the window. No streaks! It's almost like my vision improved. lol "Seeing" soo much clearer now. Sweeet! :ylsuper:

I went to Wally world to get my Bosch 20's and 18's.

WTF? almost no 20's of any kind.

I bought Rain X 19 and 18 to fit for under $10 each, and they are flat type so good enough.

I run maybe 1k ayear, and they''l just rot anyway.

Steve Dallas 03-23-2017 10:08 AM

Being that wiper blades should be replaced every 6 months to 1 year, I just buy Michelins from Wally World for $13 per pair and replace as needed.
