Paint and Washing...
hey guys, I had a small nick on the rear side of my car, so I took it to a body shop to get fixed, the fixed it, and repainted the side he told me he blended it in... Well the paint job came out perfect I am very impressed with the work.... I asked him about washing it, he said I can go ahead and wash it right now if I want, but I have heard that after painting you should let the paint 'cure' before washing.... What should I do any suggestions? Should I give it a light wash? and wax in a few weeks, or just leave it alone completely?

Don't use harsh detergents or wax for first 3 months--it needs to cure. At least, this is what I was told when I had my RX7 repainted. I'd probably think cleaning it gently with just water would be fine.

I had my Miata bumper repainted twice. They said dont wash it for a week and no wax for at least a month so it can cure.

While paint shop people are usually great at what they do (painting cars) they aren't always the most knowledgable with car washing and caring for the paint. I would think you can do a light wash because the paint would get wet in the rain anyways. Just stay away from chemicals and don't scrub too hard on that section of the car.
