Paint Job Opinion Needed

Hi guys,
I have a high spot or reverse dent on my front bumper which is very minor, its one of those cases where u wanna get rid of it coz its giving u heart pain whenever u see it. Anyway I brought it to a body repair shop, the guy there said better to leave it as it is since the paint wasn't cracked or anything plus the high spot wasn't that obvious. So I asked him whether he can do anything about it, he said he could use a heat gun and try to reshape the bumper unless the plastic was already stretched at the high spot (is this statement true?); or he could repaint the whole bumper but he mentioned it would inevitably look a bit darker although using the right paint (is this just b'coz of his limited paint job skill or its not possible to perform exactly like a factory paint job?)

Thanks

I had half my car repainted at a bodyshop and it looks perfect.

My rear bumper replacement/repaint is indistinguishable from the original, two-year old finish (TiGray). This shop nearly specializes in Mazdas, and is the shop of choice for two of the Houston dealers. Choose your body shop carefully, and matching should not be a problem.

I had my front bumper, front driver side fender, and driver side head light all replaced after someone threw a rock that was about 6" in diameter at my car!
But I took it to the repair shop and he did a phenomenal job, he said that he had been doing paint jobs for 19 years and my velocity red was the hardest paint job ever!
But he did it perfect, and he did a perfect job with blending the hood, and driver door to go along with it.

So I would say don’t take it to that shop, because if they are not even confident in there work then that says something.

I've known someone to carefully wield a cue ball by rolling it over the "reverse dent". With the right amount of pressure and some care, it worked well. That was with metal. Not sure about plastic. Like your guy said, it might have to get warm before it will yield instead of springing back.
