Did you buy it new? It might have been re painted. Are there flakes in the area that looks dull? If not that would be a good sign that it could have been touched up.

merc...ask JB (the titanium gray 8 with the radar...Belkjz (something like that)) his bumper feels like there is no clear coat on it. like the paint has a bunch of dirt stuck underneath of it. maybe you were jerking off when we were talkin' about it.

lol eat me dan. I remember but i didnt know if you knew why. Do you think it is covered under the warranty? I mean, damn it is not like it has been damaged or repainted or anything. and i only have 11k wtf...

ZoomZoomH 09-28-2005 11:08 PM

yes paint is covered under warranty

have you tried some polish to clean up the clearcoat?

without actually looking at it, and from your description, it almost sounds like your clearcoat is reacting to some sort of chemical and is being clouded, hence the dullness

merc_04RX8 09-29-2005 02:28 AM

it is not just dull. It is dry extremely dry. It is like running your hands down a smooth waxed car then you his a spot that was scrubbed with steel wool until the clear coat is gone.
And i got some blemish repair non-harmful wax and it seemed like it helped a lil but not enough.

First find out what happened in the first place, then bring your car to a professional detailer. This is no small job in my opinion.

merc_04RX8 09-29-2005 03:48 AM

well if i knew what happened, do you think that i would ask why it happened? I dont think it is as easy as saying car why is my paint dulling. I am taking it to a dealer tomorrow to get it looked at.
Sorry if it seems that i am a dick, been up for about 20 hours now.

Im_DANomite 09-29-2005 11:43 AM

take it to the dealer bro...have them figure it out. like i said, if they decline or refuse to fix it, then start thinkin' about takin' it to the body shop. DO IT

I have to ask this: What kind of wax have you been using? Has your paint been exposed to chemicals? Salt water, reclaimed water? do you take it to carwashes?

merc_04RX8 09-29-2005 10:16 PM

i take it to a detailer to get it done. So i am not sure of the wax, but i am pretty sure that they dont use anything abrassive that would affect my paint like that. No chemicals, no i havent put it in the ocean nothing like that so i dont know.

Odd, i noticed a 3"x2" spot under my spoiler like this last time i washed it. I just chalked it up to residual wax I missed. Maybe this calls for a closer look...
