Orbital Polisher Recommendations

Folks:

My adult children gave me a 10 inch "random orbital" polisher (Vector WaxxPro) as a gift instead of the Porter Cable that I really wanted (at 3-4 times the price). This one looks pretty decent, with adequate handholds, and weighs only 5 1/2 pounds (about the same as the PC). It comes with three 10" "sheepskin" bonnets.

If I keep this thing, what can I expect w/r to versatility and performance? Will it work with detailing products other than waxes? Can I do the glass and plastic (such as headlights)? How about small areas?

Or should I just bite the bullet, return this to AutoZone and toss in another 100 bucks to buy the PC? That involves committing a minor faux pas in front of my kiddos.

If you get what you want, please explain it to your kids first.

And if one of their feels is hurt too much then it looks like your out of luck.

Get the PC

The PC is so much more versatile I would go with it. Owning both the PC wins hands down. Go to Home Depot.for your PC. Good Luck Just explain to your children, I sure they will understand.

Thanks for your input. AutoZone handed me $42 cash (package still sealed, no receipt) and made a friend. Home Depot has a great military discount deal for the Memorial Day weekend. Thanks for the tip!

The local Home Depot has it as a "special order" item at about $153, far higher than any number of web sites. I'll try Lowes, then the web.

Lowes has it for $99 but is the 7336. It states sander/ polisher but is virtually the same as the 7424 just the conuter weight has different weight. People have tryed both side by side and found no difference in vibration, etc... So you are good to go. Just remember in picking up a set of buffing pads and a velcro backing plate since the one that comes with the machine will not last (the foam pad is glued to the backing plate)
Cheers!
