Just a quick question...I'm going to wax my car this weekend, how long do you wait before you start buffing out the wax? Do I just wax the whole car and soon as I'm done start buffing it out? And after you do that...do you wash your car right away (I'm using nxt car wash too) or do you wait a day (or hours) before washing it again?

When I use NXT I do a section at a time. I like to give the wax a few minutes to dry before buffing off. I've never heard of anyone washing thier car right after they waxed it, whats the use? Wash your car BEFORE you wax it...then once its waxed you should have a nice shiney clean looking car :)

If you are going to wax your car, do a GOOD wash prior to waxing using plain dish soap. This will remove any existing wax on the car. Then, you can wash once more using a car wash soap. After make sure you dry the car very well and then apply the NXT. I usually to half of the car and then take it off and then do the other half. You get the best results when it has a chance to sit and dry for a little bit. If you apply the wax fast, you may want to do the whole car first and then remove it. If you work a little slow, maybe do 1 panel at a time. Also make sure the car is not too hot and not in direct sun (if you can help it) when applying the wax so it has the best result and doesn't melt ;).

why use the dish wash soap first? Will it look any worse if I just use the nxt car wash instead?

is it possible to put too much wax on or leave it on too long before buffing it out?

With NXT I have been able to wax the whole car before removing it with zero trouble. Can't say that with other waxes i have used. NXT is great stuff...

YOu can generally leave the wax on for extend period of time though it will become harder to buff out.

The Dawn Dish soap, basic form can be used to help remove any old waxes. This saves the step of having to use a cleaner wax.

After you are done waxing if you want take some quick detailer and go over once with that. Generally helps to do that to before each coat of wax.

do you guys use dawn every time you wax or only the first time or when switching to a different wax?

REMillers 05-21-2005 09:52 PM

If you are switching it can be helpful to get rid of the older wax, or perhaps every 6 months.
But generally it is just for the first time with a new wax.

Using normal car soap doesn't remove old waxes, cause if it did then you would have to wax everytime you wash your car. You can also use a paint cleaner wax instead of the dawn soap.
