Noticed some clear sticker on my side

I've read about this before, but I think the dealer forgot to take off this clear plastic on the back right side of my car. It isnt supposed to be there right? I've left it on so far, (been about 3 months) do you guys think it would be recommended to remove it? Take it to the dealer right? On that note, I could take it to any dealer Mazda place right? I could do it myself I suppose, I fear i would leave nasty gue behind. I can just let them clean it:-D

If you're referring to the clear material on the leading edge of the rear wheel arch, it's supposed to be there to help protect the paint from stone chips. Should be on both sides of the car, not just one.

Are you talking about in front of each rear wheel? If so those are there to prevent stone chips on the fenders.

There's also a clear laminate covering the bottom rear "corner" of each of the rear doors. It's there for protection alsthough I'm not sure what the vulnerability at that location is.

yah, thats what I was talking about. The thing is, it's only on the rear right side. Not the left. Do you guys leave it on?

edit: THANKS FOR THE RESPONSES.

Sea Ray 01-21-2004 07:58 AM

Why would you not want to leave it on? It is for protection, its clear and not noticable. I would ask my dealer about the other side and get one for it.

alphapenguin 01-21-2004 08:38 AM

Just wondering if anyone took em off. I was planning on leaving it on. Thanks, and I will see about the other side. THANKS FOR THE SWIFT REPLIES! This forum kicks ass.

You'll probably find that the pre-delivery guy spent an hour trying to remove the patch on one side, and another hour cleaning up the residual gluey mess, only to be told that they're supposed to remain on there.

Or (and I hope this isn't the case) perhaps the car suffered some minor damage and that panel was repainted prior to delivery.

I would certainly confront your dealer about this, if I were you.

alphapenguin 01-21-2004 01:19 PM

just to double check but does EVERYONE else have both panels on?

Katchoo 01-22-2004 11:41 AM

Have both panels on...yep yep!

adrian-1 01-22-2004 07:44 PM

I was wondering the same thing. Took a picture of it last week.

Also had the clear bra installed today. It's not as thick as the stock rear wheel piece , but should prevent rock chips. Pictures included here.

look'n sweet. how much?

adrian-1 01-22-2004 09:07 PM

It's not cheap.
Paid $390 (discount included from cleargurard.com / check the vendors forum). This included the bumper/1 ft long on the hood/ headlights/ foglights/ and side mirrors. Install was $175 so a total of $565.

i was talkin to a mazda service personabout the recall service, and I mentioned the clear plastic . They saaid the dont know anythiing about it. Does that mean they wont replace it? I guess I should check the cars on their lot to see if they have the clear plasitc on too. Does anyone know if there is a part number or something?

DemonRX-8 03-01-2004 09:18 PM

The primary manufacturer's are 3M, Avery Dennison, and Venture Tape - they produce the film that is used by companies such as Clear-Guard and others. Check more info here: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ight=clear+bra

Tinkerer 03-03-2004 06:39 AM

Thanks Demon -- I was aware of those manufacturers, but I'd really like to match the tape that is already on the vehicle. Anyone know what tape Mazda uses? Thanks!
