Polishing exhaust tips

So I figured I would put up some before/after pics of exhaust tips that I recently polished. I used the following:

Blue Magic metal polish (cream)
Mothers Powerball Mini
Some paper towels to apply the polish
Microfiber to buff polish out.

I don't claim to be super experienced or a pro at this but I think this can show what can be done with a few hours and some patience. So don't be afraid to buy an old used exhaust!!

Before

Finished product:

Not to disrespect your work but 2 hrs a tip and that's what you came out with. 2 hrs for both and mine looked like a mirror inside and out now it takes 5 min a piece to get them back to a nice shine with 30 min and 6 mth of build up they'll be back to mirror. As a matter of fact i'll be right back with a before and after pic. Mothers FTMFW

maybe while watching tv or multi tasking or just taking the time to do it right. You gotta think about that and not hate

not to mention that is an ancient exhaust and from the looks of it was never cleaned (you bought that in the fs thread recently right?)

great job!

did you try also polishing the bottom of the muffler, and if so can u post pix?

that's one area that looks fugly to me on the 8 stock... the muffler sits so low and it turns bronze color, so when u look at the car from behind u see the bumper then this brown thing below it..

Heh, I've gone through 4 exhausts already this year so if I am ever compelled to switch again I will let you know, don't really see myself getting rid of an RE Amemiya exhaust though

I did not actually, there were some sort of considerable scratches on the bottom that would have taken more than a simple polishing. The design of this exhaust is such that the canister is hardly visible and at my (not extremely low by any means) ride height you definitely cannot see it from behind. I'll try to get a picture this weekend sometime
