Mazda Premium Floor Mats Are Worth Every Penny

I recently purchased the black/gray premium flor mats for the 8. I have to say I love them. I didn't care for the look of them at first, but they've grown on me. They are much better quality material than the regular factory mats.

If anyone else has them, let me know what you think of them.

I bought a set of red/black for my 8 but have yet to use them. Figured I use my OEM mats in the wintertime and use the nice ones in the summer :)

mikeb 01-28-2004 02:24 PM

how much do they cost?
are they the ones that say rx8 all over them?

mdw33333 01-28-2004 02:57 PM

Yes, they say RX8 diagonally across them. they're about $70 a set.

what interior combo do you guys have?
I have black and chappareal or brown.
I like my interior but those matts won't match mine

What's the big difference over the standard mats? I thought the standard was a nice material already.. hmm.

mdw33333 01-29-2004 02:04 PM

The standard mats are nice, but these are thicker and more durable for long-term use.

I've had the premium mats in use for probably 5 months (~8000 miles) now and though they do seem to wear better than the standard ones that came with the car, they still seem to wear pretty quickly. The area around my heel has become gray/whitish. I'll be looking for some other 'premium' replacement mat in the future, hopefully something with a much more dense weave.

How 'bout the all-weather ones? They any good?

mdw33333 01-30-2004 11:32 AM

I'm not sure about the all weather mats. I'd like to hear feedback on them though.

Man, I think the standard mats were crap. But I'm comparing them to my FC mats, which IMO are much better quality. I expect the stock mats to wear through in a few years where my heel rests, which to me is a shorter lifespan than I would expect.

I got the All-Weather mats as an option.
They are made of black rubber about 1/2 inch thick almost like the mats that the checkout clerks stand on in a gorcery store. They have slight circular pits on the surface so any water from your shoes will get caught in the pits and not leak on the floor.
These are great for inclimate weather days. I can forsee almost no wear occuring.
When the weather gets warm and dry I will switch back to the standard mats.

Thanks for the feeback Taka. Sounds good. I'll probably get them... or see if the dealer with throw them in. :)

Anyone come across any aftermarket options for mats? I too have an issue with wear on the standard mats that came with the car. (I just can't seem to keep my left foot planted on the metal foot rest for long).

maxrx8 02-19-2004 06:20 PM

I have the stock mats. They seem nice enough.
I don't like how they creep down and up the metal foot rest. Is there a way of hooking it that Iam missing? On my S70 T5 there are nice little hooks that go in the loops on the mat.
Is this only on luxso's?

the link was dead. can someone post pics of the floor mats?

rabinabo 02-22-2004 04:02 PM
