Lightpaint Overspray

I've seen alot of people say to use Claybar for overspray, but before I got spend $20, I have a quick question.

Right now I have a Electric Buffer/Sander and some 3M Rubbing Compound. Would claybar take the overspray off faster than the rubbing compound? Because I did a test spot and the Rubbing Compound did take it off, but it was a bitch to do a 1ftx1ft spot even with the electric buffer.

Also is claybar safe to use on Windows, the B-Pillar, and headlight/tailights?

I would not use straight rubbing compound on your car, that stuff can be very harsh and if you don't know exactly what you are doing it will buff the clear coat right off you the spot you are using it on. Clay is very easy to use and should help take the over spray off, and I don't see why you couldn't use it on the windows and such.

Clay bar it with spray wax and it will come off with no problem ran a detail shop for 3 years

Thanks for the info, I picked up a Mothers' Claybar kit for $16 and am going to try it tonight :)

OMG 4 hrs later I must say that the paint looks freaking GREAT. It looks better than before it go overspray on it!

Make sure you put some wax or polish on it for protection, that claybar will take what was on there off.

Yah I washed it again after the claybar then used a cleaner wax and then NXT. Right now it looks like the day I bought it. Well all except the for mismatched bumper that I have to get repainted for the 4th time today...

Thanks for the follow-up QBallz. When I saw this thread I wondered how well that would work. I was afraid paint overspray was just death for a car's finish.

$16 clay-bar is far better than a $x,000 paint job at a pro-shop.
