Leather seat care

Hello,
I browsed through a few pages of this section but was unable to find anything about leather seat care. So my question to you all is what do you use to maintain the leather seat's luster and err... quality?

thanks.

Note that most of the "leather" seat is really textured vinyl (the actual body contact areas are leather). Leather cleaner/conditioner products are fine on the vinyl, but you can also use the vinyl care products you use on the rest of the interior vinyl.

The two-step products (such as Lexol) with separate cleaner and conditioner are better treatment, but the one step products are easier.

I got the leather sealant pkg from the dealers...

I just treated the leather in my 8 yesterday. :)
I've used quite a few leather products in the past (with different cars) and I don't think I've used anything better then what I have now.

ZAINO!

Z9 - Leather Cleaner Even if your leather LOOKS clean...use this stuff, you'll be amazed what it gets off the seats.

Z10 - Leather Conditioner. The leather looks and feels SOOOO nice after using this stuff.

I think you need to change your subheading to "Zaino Jedi Master"

How about the Meguiar's Gold Class Leather Cleaner & Conditioner?

paulmasoner 05-01-2007 04:42 AM

^i've used it some, not bad stuff, better than any off the shelf cheapo stuff for sure. but i don't doubt the jedi master for a single second that Zaino's products are the way to go. as soon as i quit buying stupid shyte and funds return i will be purchasing most of what they offer

Well, it appears as though I'm starting to get a reputation. :D:

One of the things I love about the Z10 Leather Conditioner is the fact that you set it and forget it. No need to really work it into the leather or sit there buffing it like crazy. All I did was apply it with a microfiber applicator pad and let it dry on its own (dries very quickly with no greasy mess)

After working on the inside of my car and seeing that I'd cut my arm and bled all over my front seat "GASP" I ran out and picked up the Meguiar's Gold Class Leather Cleaner & Conditioner.
Worked like a charm on the black leather, I shudder to think how sand leather might have come out.

Hope I didn't damage my leather but nothing seemed to clean the Chapparel color seats. So I used Magic eraser, slightly damp and it just cut through the dirt like crazy. ANy thoughts?

I probably should have sealed it after that.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I bought the Meguiar's instead as it was readily available and gets good review. Slathered it on the 8's cow hide. Left it overnight. Will see how it looks when I get back from work.

+1 on the Meguiar's. I have used that every time I wash my car and it is great stuff. I really like how it adds that leather smell to your car.

guidosrx8 05-07-2007 06:16 PM

Go with the Lexol...we sell it where I work. go with the lexol cleaner first, then hit the seats with the conditioner...you will be suprised what comes off the seats

bruce_van 05-07-2007 08:49 PM

Ditto on the Lexol. We put it on our furniture. Good stuff and proven to work over the long run. It's a bit pricer than the other stuff, but my car is worth it.

firebirdude 05-11-2007 10:17 AM

Use zaino products. Out of the 18-20 products they make, I have been very impressed/blown away by probably 8-10 of them. I doubt they would sell the best polish on earth then also some subpar leather care products. I'm sure they're all that and a bag of funyins

And while I'm here.... I have to wonder why people use any other polish. I heard NXT was awesome, bought it and used it twice. It's garbage in comparison. I heard Mother's was good stuff..... come on guys. I think people that praise these product have never used Zaino before. It's a whole different level. And if you're gonna complain about price, don't complain when you're polishing your car ever other day.

Leather care

I too am using Meguiar's Gold Class leather cleaner/conditioner in a wipe. It's really easy to apply & takes 4 sheets to adequately coat the front & rear seats. Need 2 more to do the door panels. Since no one sits in the back, they probably will only need to be done every other time I do the fronts. Very satisfied with the product but will probably try Zaino next time. Will go back to Meguiar's if Zaino isn't substantially better. The all in one wipe is just too convenient.

ndtechie09 05-13-2007 11:06 PM

+1 on the Zaino...Zaino is the only thing that touches my car

Murphy's Oil Soap is excellent!! It creates the softest feel I have seen yet.

Yes, the same Murphy's Oil Soap that is used on floors and furniture. What you do is take an empty spray bottle. Put about an inch in the Oil Soap in the bottle. Dilute the rest with hot water. Spray on and wipe off. Not only does it clean your leather, but conditions it to soft without the slippery feel.

delhi 05-14-2007 11:00 AM

But Murphy oil smells terrible!

taylorscock 05-14-2007 01:37 PM

LOL!! I get the citris scent. It smells alright.
